Lunardi moves Texas off bubble

  • No longer part of Last Four In. Above that.

Lunardi's late-night Bracketology update - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

Check back Friday morning for Joe Lunardi's full bracket, but here are his basic projections through Thursday night's action. SINCE THE LAST UPDATE

On a quick count, I only see 4 teams behind us still playing that could jump above us. Assuming we're not in the last four anymore we should be safe, however this is all assuming that the committee sees things the same as Lunardi and/or anyone else doing this stuff. I know there are always a couple surprises on the selection show so hopefully last night was enough to keep us away from that. A win against Missouri would move us safely onto the 10 line in my opinion (I really don't want to make it to 8-9 seed range just because I want no chance at the blood bath Kentucky would provide).

    Agreed.

  • Don't worry if Mizzou beats us then he'll put us back on it. These "bracket updates" from him based on the last games can get absurd.

  • I've really been out of bb this season b/c when I read the title of this thread and another one bierce posted, I was scratching my head wondering:

    a) why are they shrinking the bubble? does this have something to do with a wind storm; and

    b) who the hell is Lunardi and why is he messing with our in-door practice facility?

    yep...

we went from last 4 in to first 4 out after playing kansas.

did he assume that we were going to beat kansas or something?

    this is all very fluid.

  • FWIW (and I think it's worth a lot), Lunardi has tended to rate Texas lower than nearly all other bracketologists.

On the bracket matrix at The Bracket Project, there were listed 27 brackets that were updated by 8 this morning. Sixteen of them had Texas as an 11 seed or better. All had Texas in the field. Only 2 had Texas as a 13 seed, which is where Lunardi put it this morning.

I do think Lunardi is silly to jostle teams so much when they play to seed in conference tournaments. When March starts, a team has to win above its rank to move up and lose below it to move down.

  • Texas's best win just took a dip. Temple lost in the A-10 quarterfinals. Here is hoping St. Louis wins out now.

  • 59 brackets updated to reflect yesterday's games. 1 had Texas out. 4 have Texas as a 13 seed. Texas averages to an 11 seed.
