Looks like Colt will be getting some help

  • ESPN reporting that the Browns will take Trent Richardson is he's there at No. 4 or Morris Clayborn. If they take Clayborn, they go offensive skill at No. 22.

    Burrito Jimmy

  • I've got a feeling someone's going to trade up to 3 to steal him. I'd rather them take Blackmon than Claiborne if that's the case.

    Ideally, Trent @ 4, Kendall Wright/Floyd/Hill @ 22, IMO.

    BhamHorn

  • I think Minnesota stays at 3 and takes Claiborne and Cleveland snags Richardson. Colt needs A LOT of help, a LOT of it.

  • I just don't see the benefit of taking running backs that high anymore considering their rate of injuries.

Agree. It's just a sign that Cleveland is going to keep being Cleveland.

  • They might try to find a replacement for Colt at #22. Let's hope not.

  • Clevelanders need to pray to whoever it is they pray to that no one jumps up to #3 to take Richardson. They need offensive help in the worst way, and in that division you need to have a solid running game.

Disagree completely - the time to pay a running back is immediately after you draft him, by the time that contract is up, then you don't pay big money to re-sign him, but with the rookie wage scale - if you get a rb that talented you take em anywhere

Richardson is easily worth that pick especially with the need at the position that Cleveland has

  • Mayock has the Browns taking Blackmon at 4. Interesting.

  • if the browns did take Claiborne, it would be good for Colt. Then they would have to concentrate on other offensive positions such as rb and wr with the next few picks instead of picking up weedon early in the second.

    +1

Richardson is an elite rb talent. If you can get the best 5 years of his career out of him for a rookie deal, you do it.

Yep. Plus his rookie wage will be much cheaper than what he could command on the open market in 5 years. I don't see the down side to it. A running game is a qbs best friend. If you want to keep Colt alive all year give him a stud RB.

Also I think Minnesota is making a mistake in passing on the LT.

IMO the Rams should consider trading up to 3 for Richardson, Vikings trade down to 6 and can still get Kalil there.

I bet we see plenty of movement in the top15 tonight.

I don't know how any team in the top 10 can feel good about taking Justin Blackmon. He'd scare me off if I was an NFL GM. I'd much rather be taking Wright and even Randle in the bottom of round 1/ top of round 2.

  • Is Hills completely out of the picture? I'd rather take a sure fire tackle prospect than a sure fire running back that early. Fish for skill position players later and sign Vince to back up Colt. Yeah baby!!! Presto! I'm a Browns fan. My Mom is from Warren after all.

Joe Thomas was the #3 pick a few years back and a very good player. Hillis signed with KC. They need skill position players, Richardson is the only elite skill guy in the draft. They can't miss with the pick. If AJ Green or Julio Jones were in this draft, I'd say take the WR but they're not. Richardson has to be the guy.

I really like Wright. Not a big fan of Randle though. I think he's way behind the curve after putting up with LSu putrid qb play.

And I guess I like Blackmon more than you. I see a big fast athletic guy with good hands who played in a passing offense. I don't think he's as good as Dez but I also don't think you'll have to worry about him as much either. I wouldn't take him at 4 but if he was there for Carolina at 9 I'd be all over him

  • Most mocks I've seen have the Browns with Richardson at 4 and Weeden at 22....that would suck for Colt.

forget for a moment that I think Colt as almost the second coming and i love the kid. I can't imagine taken Weeden at #22. If i was the Browns GM and had a shot at Luck or RG3, ok, yes, they are special talents and maybe i say "sorry " to Colt.
but you have to give your qb some real offensive talent. Colt or Weeden, either, have to have guards and tackles that can block, a running back that can run (and block) and some receivers that can ,...... oh yea, actually receive. Get another QB and they have exactly the problem Colt has until the offensive side of the browns is less offensive.

With all their picks, surely the Browns can get someone who can catch the ball.

And fluck Mel Kiper. He said "The Browns can't run and the Browns can't throw." Suck one Mel. Colt has a frickin' rocket for an arm. What they need is an offensive line, a running game AND someone who can run a route and catch.

    Umm rocket? Really?

I think Colt can be an above average qb, maybe like a Jeff Garcia kind of guy, but he does not have a rocket for an arm. They couldn't run or throw last year, their offense was horrible. What do you want the guy to say?
