Longhorn uniform question

    I like the 'TEXAS' on the front.

    Unlike other school names, "Texas" is more than the name of the school, its part of the brand, and really a brand unto itself.

    There's a reason marketing people will slap 'Texas' on anything they think they can get away with (Big Texas Cinnamon Roll, Texas Toast, Texas edition trucks, Texas Whopper, etc). Its the same reason certain aggies are eager to drop the "A&M" and pretend they're the "Texas Aggies." They know its a powerful brand and wish they could co-opt it.

    100% agree. We are TEXAS, and the name in block on the chest says it to everyone. Kids these days want more "Oregon," and less 1950s look. I hope we never go that far, but I'm sorry, old folk, kids don't want to run around in what looks akin to a burlap sack.

    Numbers on the helmet is interesting, but that really detracts from the logo, which is by far the best in sports.

    If our unis go anywhere, I would bet a mortgage payment it is a random "Oregon" update or semi-throwback/Nike combat ala aTm a couple seasons ago

    Just my $.02. Y'all can go back to hoping we look like 1950s UT

  • Personally, I would not mind one funky uniform a yr. It can not be in the RRS. Kids love those ugly uniforms and they are the consumer. Seems counter-productive to not to give them what they want. I am not saying change the uniforms for a season, but 1 game 1 Nike Combat Uniform if it brings in one more 5 star recruit a yr

    5* recruits don't care about uniforms.

    having said that, I like the throwbacks we wore in 2005 and 2009.

    ..and those 2009 unis were "nike combat".

    Ya know what I liked best about those uni's? We wore them to beat ATM at Kyle, and on the inside of the jerseys it said "....we only need 11."

    I like those a lot. I think it'd be cool if those jerseys were worn for our Thanksgiving Day game. Holiday=Nostalgia=Throwback=Classic.

    Then again the team that wore those jerseys was awesome. If we would have worn those jerseys two years ago I'd probably hate them!

  • Keep Texas on the front. We are Texas and it should always be there. It is a reinforcement. Add the numbers perhaps to the Longhorn on the helmet. WE are Texas not the the Turncoats of A&M. They should not be allowed to have anything associated with Texas on their unis.

    5 simple letters from one of the most recognizable states...we should never let it go...now, if you want 1 retro uni/year, make it the opening home game...or Alumni weekend...it is for the fans.

    Agree on the uniforms! I guess the current players ought to have a say since it's their team, but I prefer the simpler, the better - well, PSU is too extreme. TEXAS on the jersey is okay along with the Longhorn on the helmet, but that's enough IMO. No numbers on the helmets nor stripes on the pants nor piping anywhere, but that's just my 2cents.

  • I liked the two stripes on the pants. Can't remember when we last had them. Maybe 83 or so, but I liked em. I also like Texas on the front. Makes the jerseys look less plain.
