In an effort to give you all viewpoints of this story, here's an excerpt from Josh Newberg from the Noles247 site this morning. It could be something, it could be nothing but Josh is hearing some things or he wouldn't have written it.
** In regards to Mario, I was told yesterday that Texas is beginning to amp up the pressure. Texas typically does not wait on kids and are trying to get confirmation from Edwards on whether or not he's coming. This could be a giant mis-step by Texas. I'm told the pressure has bothered Edwards and his father this week.

That's surprising. I would think Mack's staff would be willing to wait until Judgment Day on this one. Do you think this is true, Bobby?

Except Texas does wait on the cream of the crop - JJ and Hicks to name a few. I suppose this year could be different with so many transfers and kids still being recruited - but I would be surprised if we were pressuring MEJ.

I expect Mack and Co. to play this one correctly. It doesn't guarantee a commitment from Edwards, but Mack - and this staff - has proven that he knows what he's doing.

Sounds to me like we are reaching peak numbers. If Mario is going to pass, staff wants to know right away before other undeclares / fence-sitters get snatched up. I like the idea of putting Texas first. Either the Edwards camp sees the opportunity or they don't. Seriously, what additional information do they need to firmly commit one way or the other? Drama is not going to help anybody (Lache, holla!). And dragging out the process will only impact our efforts at maximizing this class. Time to close this sale.

And we start the arc downward after such a promising few days. FSU gets this kid I'm thinking, although I seriously doubt Mack would pressure them. That's a rookie mistake, you never pressure. You might move on but you don't pressure.

I don't think Texas is meaning to apply too much pressure. But I also think that if Mario is feeling pressure, then that's all that really matters to have an adverse effect.

I'm not sure I'm buying that one during a dead period that ended yesterday.
Mack will be out to see Bluiett today so again I'm not sure I see a huge pressure filled push.

Absolutely. We've always waited on a select group of guys who want to make a decision towards the end. I'd be utterly shocked if our coaches are pressuring Edwards to make a decision now. I'd imagine it's either false or a misunderstanding. If it's a misunderstanding it needs to be cleared up immediately.

I have a lot of confidence in Mack's recruiting strategy...but I am ready for signing day so we can put an end to all this. Then, we can start talking about spring practices.

Excellent question. I'm interested in hearing the answer to this one. I'm not being sarcastic; I'm serious. How the heck can Mack & Co. be "beginning to amp up the pressure"? And if Mario is perceiving pressure that Mack can't be applying, that sounds weird.
Seems like there's something I'm missing here.

Then that's a total 180 from earlier reports that the commits down in Florida were letting him be and not pressuring him.
