LHN endures growing pains, Dodds hopeful distribution will grow

Espn did contract with Tw, comcast and Direct last summer and the LHN was never mentioned in negotiations, so the thought of ESPN using their leverage to force it on carriers is slim

There is always hope. You're right about Cox. I'm not sure about time Warner but I don't think you are correct about direct tv. I think it is up this December. I'll do some checking.

There are a couple of big lawsuits out there with the potential of finally ending these tying arrangements and forced carriage on basic tier. Big companies with big money are starting to throw antitrust words at each other. With the right results, you could finally begin to see content menus instead of buffets.

you are correct and the majority of the growing pending legal issues is about sports programming. as a general statement, the cable firms are done with the content producers coming up with new sports channels and then forcing the cable firms to take them on and take up their cost. the eventual answer is a la carte (or menus if you will) and that ultimately is how much of this content will grow over the coming years.

It just hit me. The true difference between LHN lovers and haters.

LHN haters realize the concept is a dud. They realize this is not a long-term product, and that once ESPN comes to its senses and calls off this game of chicken, the LHN is done. So then we are left with nothing but carnage and wreckage caused by this spawn of satan. Our relationships will need to be rebuilt, we will need to somehow strengthen our conference affiliation, and just generally rebuild ground zero. And all for a short-sighted, unfounded, STOOOPID idea that God only knows why ESPN bought into. LHN haters realize all this. That's why they hate.

And now the LHN lovers. They have been wooed by the production quality. The fact that there is a channel devoted to nothing but Texas can be quite mesmerizing to the point you start believing that this is an eternal, legit product. You overlook the conference wreckage because you've been seduced. LHN is like an angelic, wonderfully beautiful SLUT on your TV set, and you have lost all grip of reality in terms of critical thinking and a macro-view of what this product really means to the other 99.9% of humanity. Funny, as I say this, even many of those who have had LHN for some time are cooling off. The wares of the temptress aren't so seductive after awhile. And then there are those who just like to have something that other schools don't have, but that's a different psychology altogether.

You really had nothing to say.... but you couldn't just say nothing could you. So hurl an epithet as a filler for your loss for words.
