Better than the entire season. This is huge news for the team and Kabongo. Now the team can move on and look forward to Myck rejoining the team for the 2nd half of conference play.

Feb. 13th against ISU he will make his return.

Just trying to be optimistic here...but the selection committee does look at how a team finishes up a year, so if we can just hang in there and win our share it is possible that Texas will look promising the last half of the conf. schedule and get picked for the tourney.

I feel better about the year now than I did two days ago.

And don't give me the "it was the lie" BS. The NCAA never even ASKED a question of TR. Or Lache and Oregon. And Cam Newton got nothing for admitting his father pimped him to schools

It's a crime they don't allow these kids, and that what they are, to be represented by someone when going in to talk to the NCAA investigators.

Seems like they came off the full suspension pretty easy, was this like when you are negotiating for salary and just ask for way higher than you actually think you'll get?

Dodds ever the politician. I would have not been thinking the committee for their over-time and lack of effort in this case.

I am glad this is over. From what I can tell from a distance, Myck has always seemed like a good kid. Everybody makes mistakes

MK put himself in a position to be publicly embarrassed & face a suspension from the NCAA

The Texas compliance office did not provide adequate representation for MK, did not notify Rick Barnes or any other basketball team reps prior to their conversations with MK, and did not help either the player or university during this process

MK made a mistake & received the relevant consequences...will the Texas compliance office face their own consequences for failing MK & the university? I think we all know the answer to that...the Texas compliance officials involved in this matter should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves

You certainly express the unobjective and bias viewpoint and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But for the sake of argument, let's look at the situation from a different perspective.

1. Texas is king of the hill in college athletics. While true that fans are increasingly impatient and emphatically growing tired of poor results in the big-stage sports (football, basketball, baseball), it absolutely has a responsibility to avoid ANY perceived impropriety in its compliance actions.

2. It is easy to pile on the compliance department who is ultimately responsible for processing and reporting infractions but there are too numerous examples of institutions whose same officials were deemed negligent in their objective duties to the institution and summarily a big part of the reason for sanctions.

3. Rick Barnes and DeLoss Dodds may not like the outcome but the bottom line is the compliance department did its job. Would we rather a small infraction, in the scheme of things, lead to an army of investigators signing short-term leases in and around campus poking their noses in every nook and cranny?

I am not saying that our compliance department did not make any mistakes here. But risk assessment and conservative aversion seems like the strategy du jour for these folks given recent history.

Yes, it stinks that a $475 plane ticket and pursuit of career skill training cost Texas its star point guard for 75% of his sophomore season. But there is so much more riding on playing the NCAA compliance rules by the book if you are a Texas caliber institution.

I say lead from the front and maintain a separation of powers standard. Look what happens when you skate that line. The risk is high and everybody, including the NCAA investigators, would love to take down our program given the size of that cap feather.

Not an apologist for anyone. Just choosing to take the long view on this situ.
