One thing in that is true in sports conversations like these - Jack vs. Tiger. You can't compare their careers and competition, more importantly the careers of others during their time, until their eras or primes are over. Jack's era is done. Tiger's era, and the accomplishments of the players in the era, are far from it.

Just me, but Jack's golf prime (and a golfers prime is different and much longer than other sports) was 1962-1980.

Tiger is 1997 and he will hit the magic 40 during the 2015-16 season.

If he can piece together 5-6 more years of pretty healthy, or as much as it will be possible for him, the PGA Tour record of 82 wins is going down. Looks very likely that he will be the winningest pro golfer of all time, men or women's (all time PGA/LPGA win # is 88, I believe), but not necessarily the most majors of all-time.

He's going to have the most wins, the highest win %, the highest top 10 %, the highest top 25%, most POY's, most money titles, etc...

Will he get 18 or 19? I don't really see it. He continues to prove people wrong, and I may end up being wrong, but he will essentially have to win 3 in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons IMO to have a chance to tie or break. I'm still of the belief he now has tension in the arms and shoulders (because of his dramatic downfall off the course), and that shows up in the most pressure packed tournaments/times - the majors.

If there is one things known, he will have a health setback during the next 4-5 years, but will it be a major setback and lost time/majors, or will it be a couple of minor injuries?

I see the same tension you do Gerry, but I think that all fades away as he wins more. What makes people forget about his off the course stuff? Winning. See Kobe for an example. As he wins, he feels the love, he feels acceptance. It's important to Tiger no matter how arrogant he seems to the media. He wants that love.

What I find amazing is all of the golf world wondering when he'll be the old Tiger. They want him to switch back to Harmon because this swing isn't for him. Well he's now won three times in the last 6-7 months. All while working the kinks out. People say that players don't fear Tiger anymore........that is because some of these new faces haven't really felt the course shake yet. Fowler opens with birdie and fires an 84 on Sunday. Once that chip goes in the two players in the lead group completely wilted.

IMO, 2 main reasons I'm coming back around to Tiger hitting 18-19 mark...I don't see the competition from many of the younger players (Scott, McIlroy, Donald) or players like Phil (with his own issues)...it's just not consistent competition from these players in each major...& I'm thinking Tiger has 2-3 more Master's left...as awful as 2011 was for Tiger, he finished T-4 @ Augusta

I really don't see Tiger winning another US Open as the courses are just too tough for his game now...but I can see more Master's titles with a possible British, only because of the way the courses set up for Tiger's game
