Johnathan Gray as a freshman

  • If he's healthy, could he wind up getting the most touches out of the three backs this season? The temptation will be strong for that to happen because I see him making a lot of plays.

Including passes, then yes potentially. Rushes, I highly doubt if that's the only barometer. I think he'll have the have the highest YPA/YPC and possibly by a lot. The screen game and slant with Gray are going to be deadly.

  • I think Gray impresses the coaches and then the fans rather quickly in his career. He actually seems like a 3 and out kind of player to me.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

Doubt he gets the most touches, but wouldn't surprise me if made the most plays @ 20+ yards...& I would expect 20+ rec for Gray, & would compare Gray to JC as a receiving back

  • I believe Joe Bergeron will lead the team in rushing.

  • I'm most worried about the healthy part for this year. Seems a frosh running back needs a year in the s&c program to handle tha pounding. See B&B....

I am with you on this. While his vision is limited, Bergeron is a blaster and I think our interior OL is going to be very good at down hill run blocking between the tackles this year.

Joe is going to bust some long ones.

  • Both J Gray and Joe Bergeron need to be on the field at the same time !!! Get your best football players on the field....best leaders gamechangers..!!!

What Joe Lacks in experience, he makes up for in sheeer will power, eagerness and leadership. Joe Bergeron needs the ball in his hands period. He needs to be on the field whether that is being featured at TAILBACK , Fullback, Hback or Split TE. THIS kid can RUN, he can Will himself to block and by the way he can CATCH. Defenses cant just focus on him running it, but LB and safeties are going to be a step slower trying to figure out if he is going to block them, Run it...or wooof going to run down and catch it. JOE BERGERON is a Leader is sheer belief and willpower, no backdown attitude.....is what this offense lacked. YOU keep this Kid on the field as much as possible. NO Hback or TE we have on the roster has what Joe Bergeron can possses.

Same can almost be said for J. Gray. He can CATCH...he can run routes, he understands space, and he has almost college senior experience in breaking down defenses...timing....he just has it. At any Time he can line up at TB and take it to the house....at any time he can motion down to Slotback and Bergeron motions to TAILback....and this MOVE creates hesitation...it makes the safety start thinking.....the Lb eyes start moving.......

What BERGERON and GRAY on the field at the same time gives up Flexibilty...and EVERY MOVE, EVERY motion.....It forces the Defense to adjust, to move......to account for them.

As you all know, the more moving parts...the more things can break. That is in a sense what makes Harsins OFFENSE work...that is the Genius of his Boise STATE offense.

Malcom BROWN could very well be apart of this discussion, but right now, is ALL I know is that he can tote the Rock. ONCE he decides to Block like he runs, ONce he shows he catch like he Can RUN.... I trust Major Applewhite, Major will drive home this point..... Malcom and Joe Bergeron need to be almost interchangeable.....

if that happens, what you will seee is one of the most DYNAMIC RUNNING Attacks in college football.

GIVE ME the above version of JOE BERGERON, Johnathan Gray and Malcom Brown flexible, powerful blockers, recievers....explosive....

Give me Shipley, Goodwin, DAVIS, either DAJE Johnson / DJ MONROE and a dedicated, willing blocker attitude to block like BERGERON In CALEB JONES......

GIVE ME Major Applewhites guidance and teaching the RBs / Slot back

and finally GIVE ME HARSIN...give me the guy we went after .....if he cant make it happen with the talent above he needs to be run out of town and replaced.

if Harsin is what I Think he is, he will take the parts of this offense and decimate defeneses. I Dont give a rats ass who the QB is.....I am tired of losing and making excuses....If 75 yr old BILL SNYDER can make it happen at a podunk university of Kansas STATE.....

then we can do it at UT in AUSTIN.

Talent is there.....now its up to the Coaches to DELIVER.......Harsin is our Man on Offense, I am betting he can do it....and i will give him this year to make it happen.

thats my two cents in paradise

Like the way you think. Texas could surprise even the Texas fans this year. Ten games won and a big bowl is not unreasonable...if all goes well. Your right the talent is there. Can the coaches bring it home?
One question, is the concept of the triple option, with Gray, Joe & MB1, workable? Can you imagine those three with Shipley and a couple other speed machines on the field together? Texas can be a monster this year. Hook'em
