Great question. I'd like to hear their views as well. I suspect that the question can't be fully addressed until after the next two games. Every game is crucial for Manny from now on.
Seriously, there are teams that year after year have tough defenses-Saban and Mushcamp come to mind. They don't just have better athletes. I'm afraid that last year we caught people by surprise, but now that they have seen it, they can exploit us. So, what do you think?

I don't see how Mack can afford not to make the move.
I like Manny a lot on a personal level but I think until the second half of the Kansas game, the defense looked like it was playing on roller skates all season long.
And while youth can be used as a viable excuse, the DC has to adapt to issues. Maybe he can do that now and he couldn't before because it's Manny's first time as a DC in this sort of situation. That's a decision Mack will have to make but I don't know if he's willing to take that gamble.

My personal opinion is he should not be allowed back. With the raw talent that we had coming in on D and the amount of off season workouts/practices he had available to him, not to mention the warning signs that were clearly evident early in the season, Manny was way simply too slow to adjust (as Bobby eluded too in his post). That may fly at a place like Miss. State, but it doesn't work at a place like Texas where defense is not only respected, but is also such a critical piece to this team’s success in being able to contain the explosive offenses that are here in the Big 12. We can all speculate as to why this was allowed to continue or why Manny simply didn't "get it", but the fact is he demonstrated for a long period of time that his initial plan (scheme) simply did not add up with the personnel that we had on the field and to make matters worse, continued to put that plan out on the field when it clearly was not working. You can't afford to have those kinds of "learning curves" in the middle of a season where every game means so much with respect what your team and program is trying to achieve (i.e. another championship). Unless he is able to have strong performances by his unit against our remaining opponents and in the bowl game, I'm not sure Mack keeps him on board. Of course one has to wonder what Mack's timetable is if he were to make such a move (or not).
