Is T.J. or Durant more important to Texas hoops?

I ask myself this question a lot, and I always come back to T.J. for the reasons Gerry mentioned today. He made it cool to pick Texas and stay at home.
But, Barnes now has one of the faces in the NBA in Durant to sell to recruits.
I used to think the answer to this question was T.J. in a landslide, but now I'm not sure.

Durant, imo. One of the first things prospects tell me is "Coach Barnes has guys like Kevin Durant in the league". Never once have they said Ford, then went from there. It's ALWAYS Durant.

TJ was a reason we were able to get a guy like Durant because we made to the Elite 8 with him. Durant is the more recognizable name because hes doing so well now and kids coming from high school are seeing the success hes having now and might have witnessed his great year here as well. at the moment I think Durant is edging out TJ but the gap will get bigger as time goes on.

Depends on how you want to look at it IMO.
Without T.J. Ford, there probably isn't a Kevin Durant. That said, Kevin Durant can sell the program for Barnes for the next decade in terms of Texas being a place that can get you to the NBA.
For me, it's all about where it started and IMO it's with T.J. Ford. You can argue that T.J. Ford is as important to Texas as a guy like Johnny Dawkins was for Duke.

Still TJ in a landslide.
That might be different 5 or 7 years from now, but as of today it seems pretty clear to me.

Durant imo by a wide margin. He has a much more far reaching appeal. He's one of the faces of the NBA and will continue to be so for the next decade at least. TJ never had anything close to that.
Also I never really bought into the whole "if you don't get TJ you don't get KD" opinion. It's over played and a bit of a stretch imo

Then you obviously dont know anything, cutlip. Tj won the Naismith while at Texas. He became the most recognizable Texas basketball player in the Barnes era and I garauntee you that his success and final four run helped put Texas on the national map and land Durant. To say otherwise is just plain ignorant.
