If Texas wins the toss?

  • Do you think we will kick or receive in the Alamo Bowl? I'm eager to see what Applewhite does with the offense and hope we come out aggressive with a deep post to Davis on the first play.

    Hook'em!

  • Kick without a doubt.

The stars were aligned for us to elect to receive in the Baylor game, considering how bad our defense had been playing, how good their offense is/was, and how bad their defense is/was. I'd be very surprised if we made that call again in the bowl game.

We will absolutely kick, and when we get the ball, first play will be a run behind 72.

If you think there will be wholesale change just because Applewhite is supposedly calling plays, you're going to be sorely disappointed. Even then, I fully expect you to continue your blind support for Mack.

Can you name me ONE instance where Mack showed real faith in Major Applewhite?

Didn't applewhite make the call on Ash as our 2011 QB?

    To the OP,

    Kick,

I like having the ball to start the 2nd half.

Ahhh, just made him his OC. That's pretty big.

Is it? It doesn't feel backhanded to you that Major was given the job only when Harsin left, and Mack immediately promoted Wyatt to be his co-OC?

I'm not sure he was ready until now. Still not sure, but looking forward to next season. Something happened at Alabama that wasn't good and Mack had enough confidence in Major to re-hire him. If Major had been the new kick ass OC of college football at Alabama, he wouldn't have ended up back at Texas as the RB coach.

And besides, if Mack had simply promoted Major when GD left the fan base would have gone bananas, saying it's gonna be more of the same. Everyone was wanting something new and innovative. At the time, Harsin was the perfect pick.

I feel like Mack's been pretty good to Major. Got him his first job in coaching as a GA, re-hired him, now he's our OC. Sounds pretty decent to me.

  • I suspect we'll take the wind.

  • I'd love to see more out of the wishbone formation. I know we won't, I'd just like to see it.
It would add to the fun of a bowl game.
