Greg Davis has been the Texas offensive coordinator for 13 years. But if media reports are true, Mack Brown will be looking for his replacement. Who could that be?

Bobby, great list and a great write-up. But there aren't any "home runs", are there? Too many that may land top jobs and others that aren't quite ready for the big seat. Tough call for Mack, too important to rush into (if the OB report is correct, of course).

Interesting. I haven't been a fan of just handing the job to Major . . . but if that were to happen in conjunction with Brewster or Bostadt (sp? - Wis guy); that's another animal entirely.

not to spread any rumors, well I guess I am, but I too have heard that the OL coach at Wisconsin has been in contact with Coach Brown. Don't know in what capacity.

That one is out there for sure. Don't think that is a rumor.
I mentioned Bob Bostad on a thread or two as an OL name to remember.

We can do better than Norm. I would hope that we would go after someone who's something better than a null in recruiting and at the end of their career. Chow has had his time, but that wouldn't be a splash IMHO. I'm not sure he's a WM level hire.

Mangino is an interesting name to bring up. I remember that Mack and Mark had a long talk after the game last year, and that Mack was very supportive of him.

Don Hays for OC...his Junior Varisty high school team once put 70 points on another team back in 1996....runnng the Wishbone !

Not sure if this means anything, but I checked with Chet Moss and Greg Davis was not scheduled to stop by Cedar Park this week. Davis is the area recruiter there.

Norm Chow - Doesn't he have a reputation for not being a team player? I know that he is well respected
Major - I love this idea..one of my favorite players of all time. I would hate to seem him go through what Davis has gone through though...Texas fans are brutal.
Mangino - His reputation as a OC is credible...but has a personality that doesn't mesh at Texas
Malzahn - He has a damn good track record. I love this possibility
Holgorsen - Okie State has a great offense...but is in Holgorsen or Gundy calling the plays?
Todd Dodge - He didn't win at North Texas, but I still think his offense would work here at Texas...I know for a fact that he has given the Texas staff clinics before when he was at Southlake.

I'm in my 50's but I really want to see a younger coach in the OC position. Norm Chow would be more of the same IMO.

Mack should already have a short list compiled. He can also sit back and wait for the resumes to come rolling in. There will be a lot of them.
I like Holgorson as OC and Bostad as the O line coach. Wisconsin's O line is always very good.

I'll go one by one.
Chow - it's not that he's not a team player, just that he supposedly doesn't connect all that well with the players.
Major - I think it makes a lot of sense, especially if you can bring someone in that can be an older guy to lean on in the tough times. I think he could do it alone, but we're talking about ideal situations here.
Mangino - agree, but the guy can coach, and I never thought Chizik really fit Texas either.
Malzahn - would be a real interesting choice.
Holgorsen - Holgorsen calls the plays.
Dodge - I could see him as a position coach, specifically wide receivers or tight ends. I think you'd maximize the position.

As long as the conversation stays pirate-centered it might be a good idea.

If I were in Mack's shoes I stay away from the Stoops' coaching tree: Mangino, Wyatt, Leach. Keep it simple: Major Applewhite, for the win.
