I think some negative recruiting is in order for DGB and Mario

mack needs to show them video of OU's fans abandoning their team early in the game yesterday.
also the comments from the players blaming the weather, blaming the fans (kenny stills), blaming each other (travis lewis) is not the family environment you want to go to.
mack needs to stop being so nice and use last night as ammo. i think our chances with both increased last night.

I can't speak for DGB because he's relatively quiet, but Mario strikes me as the type who puts more stock into on field results than any sort of lip service. He was (allegedly) all about Texas last August, then 5-7 happened, FSU won 10 games, and had sick DL play, and sure enough he commits to FSU. Fast forward a few months, FSU is struggling and OU is kicking the crap out of the likes of FSU and Texas, and all of a sudden he's all about OU.
Point being, Mack needs to right the ship and not concern himself with OU. Texas at its best will always be an easier sell than just about any school in the country. Should we finish strong and win 8-9 games and a bowl game, I feel pretty confident that we'll become a bigger player for Mario than we seem to be right now.

Ours either. Rather than negative recruit, why not just focus on our positives? There's enough negative to go around, on both sides....

I don't know about negative recruiting, although I'm fairly positive that every team does in some form negative recruit, but I'd imagine someone will let these kids see Travis Lewis' quotes throwing the injured guys under the bus, Kenny Stills' quotes about the OU fans sending hate messages to some of the OU players on twitter, etc.
Also, this loss just goes to show DGB and MEJ that every team loses games, whether you're a 10 point dog on a neutral field, 1 TD+ dog at home, or a 30 point favorite at home.

Mack just saved 22/23 recruits for 2011 after going 5-7 & dismantling his coaching staff...I'll take Mack's recruiting strategy for the remaining prospects

This year was our year to rebuild. OU and A&M had all the expectation this season to do big things and both failed. Point Texas. Now let's make a run the next two years.

You hit the nail on the head. Westerman could have been big, but I am amazed that we were able to hold on to all of the others.
It's tough as a fan to not become entitled and spoiled after a long stretch of 10 win seasons.

I believe negative recruiting wont cut it and isn't Texas mo. It's classless and is more OU and A@M way of doing things. I think if Texas lowers it's organization to this than Texas is going in the wrong direction and will hurt more than help in the long term even if we some how get Edwards from it.

I agree hornsfan. Texas is too classy to do negative recruiting. The program can sell itself and it really just depends on where a recruit feels most comfortable.
