How much are the issues w/ women's hoops amplified

  • Due to the fact that Baylor and Texas A&M have won the last two national titles?

  • Enough for our coach to get canned and for us to hire a former assistant who experienced what it was like when we were competitive.

  • 10 fold. The premier program in this state is an after thought and has been since the early 90s.

The Aston hire is about one thing.......recruiting. That is what I take away from it anyway. The lesbian angle is beyond stupid. If she can recruit (obviously she can) what does it matter?

  • Don't know about how it affected the decision, wasn't in the room but I can say that I was rooting for Baylor last night. I wonder if there is a conference that has as many TEAMS that have won the title as the Big12? Texas, A&M was in the B12, Tech, Baylor...certainly no other state comes close to Texas in numbers of schools with titles.

Significantly. GG was brought in to compete against them and it did not work. Keep in mind this is Baylors 2nd title in 7 years and since 2003-04 (9 seasons) they have gone to 3 sweet 16s, a final four and an elite 8 to go with the 2 championships.

Its hard to call Tx a premier program if they have been an afterthought for nearly 20 years. They were once the premier program but no more after finishing no higher than 4th in the 5 years GG was here.

  • And Baylor returns everyone next year. Very possible they go Back2Back. Texas has a huge uphill battle ahead of them.

As long as Mulkey is in Waco its gonna be tough for whoever they hire

No doubt. Mulkey is a great great coach. Baylor might have won it last year but was bounced by the eventual champion aggy.

  • Always thought that the LHN would give Texas a huge advantage in recruiting for sports other than Football because coaches could sell parents on being able to watch everyone of their children's games.

  • Suggestion for our fans: Quit worrying about what everyone else is doing, and focus on Texas.

    You'll be much happier.

  • It's amazing that recently the hotspot for women's basketball shifted from the East Coast to Central Texas ... and Texas hasn't been part of it.

(Yes, I'm including College Station and Waco as Central Texas)

  • I wonder really how much Leon Barmore has contributed to the success at Baylor. Can anyone fill me in on what happened to him this year. He was a great coach at Louisiana Tech and became an assistant at Baylor.

How about kissing this fan's big, fat, white ass and then put a team on the court that can compete with the next door neighbors? Then we'll be much happier.

We don't need advice on how to root for the team and you can stop dispensing it. Plonsky is running a joke of an organization and should be fired, along with every underperforming and underqualified HC under her regime. The idea that folks should just be happy with the crap put out there right now and not care what guys like Baylor and ATM are doing is about as idiotic as Belmont ever gets and this poster stinks of it.

  • I didn't know this but Mulkey ended up at Baylor because LaTech wouldn't offer her a 5year deal to take over when LB left. Imagine how the landscape in the state would be different if LaTech wasn't dumb.

That pretty well sums it up Alan! The hot spot has been right under Texas' nose and they haven't done, or couldn't do a thing about it... and correct me if I'm wrong, Aston was recruiting Texas when she was here? Hope she can turn that around!

  • Just me but I don't think we should be paying the chickball coach a million. I wouldn't care if we didn't field women sports.

I tried to give you an "up" vote, but for some reason it registered as a down vote. Sorry! +1

You are absolutely right and I totally agree with your argument. We should be in the mix for elite status in every sport we have. I have wondered why and who is running this arrogant outfit that continues to not listen to alumni about such things.

It's time a message is sent to the Plonsky's and Dodd's that we EXPECT our coaches to excel in all sports.

In that case you will need to get Title 9 revoked. Good luck
