How Kenny Vaccaro summed up the loss

  • Does this quote really surprise anyone? He's a great football player, but I don't think any of us would choose him to mentor others or be a leader of men, and we've known that for 4 years.

I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.

He's pissed b/c his draft stock is falling. Most of that is due to the positions Diaz is putting him and others in. Essentially Diaz is putting a lot of tape out there highlighting players weaknesses.

Yep. When we started talking about the Secondary, this upcoming season, it was all Vaccaro, Diggs, Phillips and Byndom. So far, Quandre is the only one that's lived up to all the expectations. Vaccaro has to be the biggest disappointment. Can't imagine, after the last couple of games, how the Defense as a whole can have much confidence left in what they are being coached to do.

  • This tells me Diaz is losing the respect of his defense. Bad times ahead unless a miracle happens.

  • A lot of over reaction to comments by a kid whose team just lost a very close, emotional game.

We all have over reacted to this in some degree, and none of us were invested to the degree he is.

It tells me Vaccaro's not the leader people want to believe he is.

The huge question is, does Kenny step the f&&k up and look in the mirror, now that a day has passed, the emotion has subsided and do what he needs to do to right the ship?

Manny has to ask himself the same questions...Is he over his head in the BIG XII? It's VERY obvious that Holgorson saw how OSU exposed our run D, exploited and the Stoops' boys will do the same. Manny needs to put Kenny back in center field and see what else he can do to plug the leaks in the ship.

I can't disagree with you on any if that. I believe Manny may be over his head at Texas.

You're right if this comment were a "one off". But I'm afraid this is but one of a series of comments with the same theme.

  • Some mistakes are made when players try to do too much in an effort to compensate for others. I saw Kenny flying around last night and he got himself out of position a few times. When players press & try to do things that they aren't capable of doing, you see the issues that Kenny is having.

  • Bums me out to see fans/posters take our frustrations out on a 22 yr old who always shows effort, has grown up on the 40, could've gone pro but came back. I am glad he is on our team. Do I hate the missed tackles? Absolutely. I think they have been told to tackle high and try to twist them down to the ground. Not sure why. I will take his effort everytime. If he didn't tweet he wouldn't get the comments and feedback that comes back. It's a new generation.

You hate to see people take their frustrations out about Vaccaro out on Vaccaro? Who should they take those frustrations out on? There's plenty of frustration to go around, but he certainly deserves some.

Also, to your point about it being a new generation, plenty of players in this new generation chose not to tweet shit out, and they didn't have to deal with the ramifications of it because of that. It's Vaccaro's choice to have a Twitter account.

I wonder if he regrets now staying his senior season.

If he does regret it, he shouldn't. Assuming he wants a football career beyond the college level, if he left last year, he'd presently be in exact same place as Blake Gideon. Kenny V needs to work on getting better day in and day out. IF he improves, he has a chance at the next level. If he doesn't understand his personal shortcomings and work on eliminating some mistakes, he won't make it. It takes a lot more than simply delivering one big blow every once in awhile.

Last year Vaccaro was making big plays. This year, seems mostly just talking about making big plays.

  • What concerned me was the fact that he kept looking back to the sophomores with his hands up like "what are we doing?"

  • Kenny hasnt won much since he's been here. Our "D" under his leadership has been horrendous. That tells me all I need to know.

I think he'll be a good player in the NFL but he'll always be a guy that returns to campus wearing neutral colors instead of burnt orange. Just my opinion. I know the negative sentiment will fade over the next day or two and I'll be an a-hole but that's fine.

You're missing the point. Kenny does play hard, but that doesn't exclude him from being part of the problem (which he is). When your senior 'leader' comes out with an attitude of "well f*ck it, I played well" then it rubs people the wrong way. And because it's Kenny Vaccaro, who has a history of being an ass hat, the problem is amplified.

If you need a contrasting example of how to and how not to conduct yourself, both on and off the field, see David Ash verse Kenny Vaccaro.
