Myck's mechanics are no worse than Ford's were and he made a huge jump in year two in that regard. Myck is by all accounts a hard worker so I expect big improvement.

Myck's mechanics are solid. I think he needs to stop thinking so much and just play. Hopefully after 1 season under this staff he will continue to grow in knowing what is expected of him. Also, losing JB's play-making will naturally force some of that back on Myck.

Signatures are stupid. You should block them.

  • First off you need to list Chris Owens for the 01-02 team. He was terrific and it was a darn shame that he got injured. That team would have beaten Oregon with him, but they also would have been seeded higher than six.

With Ridley posting and the team playing inside-out, the jump shooters will have more open shots. I expect surges in all three guards and with Holmes.

The inside out game will depend on the post being able to find the open man and make a good pass to get him the ball. When was the last time Texas had a post who was really proficient at that?

I left him off because he was injured and didn't play much of the season. So he didn't have the effect I was looking for in this thread topic.

Agree that if he was healthy that Texas team would have been an Elite Eight team.

I'm not so sure about that.

True, but having Ridley establish good post position will have perimeter defense sagging with potential post entry pass and thus creating better shot opportunities. The open man concept will have to come later.

And also, I will continue to hit on Texas' best defensive teams under Coach Barnes being mostly 2-3 zone teams - even though man-to-man is the desired defense.

Maybe I'm just being pessimistic, but the "Barnes should play more zone with this squad" is synonymous to me with "Greg Davis is just playing vanilla the first few games and is saving the wrinkles for OU." I can't name specific seasons, but it feels like every season looking at the roster it seems like a good idea to either play a bunch of zone or a bunch of press and neither ever seems to happen with great regularity.
