I have a pretty good idea what kind of a person you are...

What kind is that? One who reads a post that basically says nothing bad is going to happen unless it does, and doesn't buy it.

  • So start a rumor on Twitter to get Bellmont nervous in order to leverage a big settlement. That's how I see it. But Bellmont seems to see this for what it is. A feeble attempt at hardball. Bev is holding a loosing hand. Unless she actually has something. If whatever that is gets Dodds fired, go Bev. Otherwise STFU.

  • FYI, the records request appears to not have turned up much.

Seems so. Whomever wants to poke a stick, does not know the Power and bucks of Bellmont.

  • 'have not been disciplined for "similar" relationships.' Same gender? If not, forget about Bev. And it was reportedly 8 months.

Re: Major Applewhite (Texas OC) inappropriate relationship
Agree on giving kudos to Applewhite on getting some young tail. The problem for UT and Applewhite is below. Either he gets dumped or the ex-woman's track coach is going to get paid very handsomely.

(CNN) -- The University of Texas women's track coach who resigned under fire after the disclosure of an affair with a female student a decade ago doesn't understand why she was targeted for punishment and questions whether she's being treated fairly.

"Is it because I have a disability? Is it because I'm black? Is it because I'm female? Is it because I'm successful? Is it now because of my sexual preference?" Coach Bev Kearney asked on CNN's "Starting Point" Tuesday. "I had to finally come to embrace not knowing why, and I had to embrace it because the more you try to figure out why, the harder it is to forgive."

A head coach at Texas since 1993, Kearney is held in great esteem in the track world. She led the Longhorns to six national titles and was inducted into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007.

She is widely admired for her gritty resolve to walk again after she was partially paralyzed in an auto accident.

But things turned sour for Kearney last year when the university learned of an affair in 2002 with a female student. The revelation came at just about the same time Kearney was discussing a pay raise and a contract extension.

  • "Major fully accepted his discipline, including counseling."

"The university froze Applewhite's salary from Feb. 5, 2009 -- almost immediately upon learning of the behavior and discussing it with Applewhite -- until Jan. 1, 2010. In addition, Applewhite was forced to schedule a session with a "licensed professional counselor to determine if subsequent counseling is in order," according to a letter sent from Dodds to Applewhite on Feb. 5, 2009.

The letter was also placed in Applewhite's personnel file.

"Through counsel I have worked with my wife and the incident is behind us. I am regretful for my mistake and humbled by this experience," Applewhite said in his statement. "I am deeply sorry for the embarrassment it has caused my friends, family, and the University. I appreciate all of them. I've learned and grown from this and look forward to my work at Texas."

"In 2001, Texas implemented a rule that mandated system employees, faculty or anyone in a supervisory position report any consensual relationship with a student.

"In the event that a consensual relationship exists or begins to develop, the individual in the supervisory, teaching or advisory position shall immediately notify his or her immediate supervisor of the relationship and cooperate with that supervisor in making the arrangements necessary to resolve the conflict of interest," reads Texas' handbook of operating procedures."

I wonder if some of the posters who like to post half truths and sometimes outright lies about the employees and coaches of the UT athletic department would now like to revise and extend their remarks?

I see no where did Bev admit she lied about the affair, which is what got her fired.

My guess is an employee record is not the say all end all of potential issues.
Cleve Bryant threatened to squeal and was promptly paid off by a BMD to shut up. That doens't happen unless their is something hidden in the closet.

I understand but if there is no witness or paperwork to back up the accusation then will a reporter print it? I just hope they pay Bev and she goes away..................really they should have cut ties about 5 years ago. She was a cancer in the department.........

clearly its not. they state in the article garridos issue with alcohol is not mentioned in his file. unless someone comes forward or threatens to squeal it wouldn't be hard to cover it up and keep it out of the record.
