Here's what I know about the possible sh*t storm coming...

A number of media organizations (more than four) have made multiple FOIA requests for personnel files within the athletic department. They are looking for information related to the recent controversies surrounding Kearney, Applewhite and others. If there is incriminating stuff in those files, and there's reason to believe there is, then the dominoes will fall pretty quickly, starting at the top.
If there is nothing else in the records other than what's already come out, then nothing happens.
We shall know within a week or two, at most.

In an attempt to answer my own question, I found this regarding Federal personnel records:
FOIA and Official Personnel Folders (OPF)
Most information in a Federal (non-archival) Official Personnel Folder (OPF) is not releasable to the general public without the written consent of the individual whose record is involved. The Freedom of Information Act does allow, however, for certain information to be released without the individual's consent. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has determined that the following information can be released to the public:
Name
Past and present positions
Past and present titles
Past and present salaries
Past and present grades
Past and present job locations
