Have we heard anything about how Smythe's Stanford visit went?

Is anybody else annoyed with people turning a free thread into a VIP conversation all the time?

I actually agree with you. I understand if the mods need to VIP some information that is only for paying members, but normal conversation went VIP on this thread. If it starts as public, I think I should stay that way unless VIP information is being passed out IMO.

    Maybe

Seems like they like Jeremiah Gaines better though, seeing as how he was invited to the second junior day and Morgan wasn't. We shall see.

I still don't understand why the UT staff invited Trent Gow & Jeremiah Gains (neither of them have any offers) to a JD but Christian Morgan (who is considered the best TRUE TE in the state along with Smythe) isn't even invited to a JD.

I'm hoping & guessing that Morgan is UT's True TE back-up option to Smythe and that Gow & Gaines are more H-Back/Flex TE/FB combo options.

You might be right there. Not inviting him could be an indication of how they feel about Smythe.

I agree. I have no problem if a mod turns it into VIP conversation. But it's annoying when normal VIP posters do it.

And I thought Jack Benny was dead.

You should just man up and pay.

I see that you pay for the two TOS. More bang for your buck here than the other two combined, trust.

I'm not a subscriber to OB anymore. Hookem247 and IT do a WAY better job than OB at info inside the team and program. The only advantages for OB is it has the most active & recognized UT Message board and it's part of the Rivals.com network.

Or the staff doesn't necessarily agree with someone else's assessment that Morgan is considered the best TRUE TE in the state.

I think that's more likely the case.

I could be wrong, but I think you misread. Again don't mean to be contrary, but seems to me he was talking about BCM since it was in context of becoming a doctor and there is no benefit in going to BU over UT pre-med.

That's exactly how I read it. Agree with everything you said.

As others have mentioned, Stanford is a great school with a nice campus--a nice visit all in all. That said, they simply don't hold football in nearly the same esteem as Texans.

Case in point: in 2010 I bought single-game tickets for the USC game online, about a month out. My seats were at the end zone, about 10 rows back, right in front of the USC sweater girls. Paid less than $50/ticket, including tax and fees. The attached photo gives you an idea of how close I was to the action.

Now ask yourself this: if Texas were playing a home game against a name opponent like USC, how much would those seats go for (assuming they were even available)?

A degree from Stanford is, admittedly, more prestigious than one from Texas. But the football culture out West is NOTHING like it is in Texas.

This is all true, but I can not fault a young man for leveraging his athletic ability into the best possible education. If I had son in that position, I would pray he went through the process with the same thinking as this young man. I have seen many a Texas fan slam kids for their choices and many times it is based on the education of the school they chose over UT. I completely agree with that line of thought, because making the NFL is never a sure bet. I hope he looks at the combined package of athletics and education that UT offers and becomes a Longhorn. If he selects Stanford based on best education, i can not hold that against him and will simply tip my hat to him for being one of the few recruits that have their priorities straight.

If Smythe commits to Stanford, will UT finally start recruiting Christian Morgan?

    Or Corey Robinson???
