Peter Jenkins starting is something i would have never expected.

More telling of the other OLB than of Jenkins. Edmonds I think can be given a pass considering the way they planned on using him went out the window with Hicks injury and Cobbs lack of quality. Losing Hicks destroyed an already bad defense.

  • EVERYONE, Quit saying MB1 is bad he has not been bad this season, to say so is ridiculous, yes he has been injured for most of the season. The games when he gets his touches he makes impacts on the game. In three games he has two 100+ rushing yards. To say MB1 has been bad then you should say Hicks and Jeffcoat have been bad this season as well. Some of you underestimate how much an high ankle sprain can limit your mobility (he's a running back, kinda need your ankles)! We will need MB1 theses last three games. Please quit being so absurd!

Did he really or did you buy into Bobby's hype of the kid?

Phillips played all five positions in the secondary a year ago. I think it's fair to say that he played well and was reliable.

The issue has been that he's just not progressed much as a safety. He's a guy that probably needs to play closer to the LOS.

    Good----Case
    Bad------Phillips.

    Case? For the entire season?

He's played one meaningful quarter out of 8 wins.

  • Haven't seen anyone mention him, but I had HUGE expectations for Marquise Goodwin this year. I expected him to be our biggest deep threat while being used consistently in the WR screen game as well as the sweeps.

So far, outside of the Ole Miss game, I haven't seen Flash Goodwin flash much.

How does his speed translate to being a full time corner in the future? What ab his hip flexibility? Sometimes I wonder if he's enough of a fast-twitch athlete to man the corner spot long term.

Maybe he's pleasantly surprised he hasn't seen him!

I think he's best suited as a corner or an underneath nickel guy, not as a middle field safety.

I think he could play corner at Texas.

I will be unsurprised if he takes over a Vaccaro-like role next year. That's what he is more suited for IMO.

You have to think that Mike Davis has filled that role adequately.

  • Positive - Harsin. His offense has (outside of ou and ku) been creative and utilized player's skill sets.
Negative - Diaz. Before the year we thought this defense would be among the best in the nation. Torbush!

    Without a doubt...

  • Never understood how everyone rated our DT's so good. The product has been mediocre at best.

Most surprised by Daje Johnson's ability to get on the field and make plays. Very bright future if he takes care of business.

Most shocked by how terrible Cobbs has been given all the reports prior to the season

These are probably my biggest two surprises. Adrian Phillips would be the other.

I was expecting David Ash to take a big step forward as a sophomore, and all the reports during the offseason made me think Mike Davis was going to get back to his playmaking ways.

I really thought Cobbs and Phillips would be more than suitable replacements in their first years as starters. Not the case.

They've been relatively good when they stay at home. The talent is there IMO.

Weren't you one of the people saying his ability to cover more ground than Gideon would be huge for this secondary? Texas HAD to get more athletic at safety........
