Thank you so much for this. A voice of reason from someone who was there is GREATLY appreciated when everyone else is running with a collection of exaggerations and fabrications. I'll get off your board now but we have a lot of pride in our football team and we sometimes take attacks/complaints very personally. It's hard to sit back and watch people spew hate about your players and fans. Good luck to you guys and I hope we move past this pretty quickly.

Our fan should have shut the hell up, and geno should have shown a little class and continued to ignore it.

Agree with the above poster that this story line is played out and it's time to move on.

What is with all of the fan bitching about an opposing player's actions in the heat of the game? This board has a bunch of old babies on here running around and bawling about some meanie who beat up on their team. It's nauseating. The dreaded "class" condition comes in to play way too often around here.

There is no moral victory worth having.The guy kicked Texas in the teeth. That he did it while apparently mocking a bunch of fans and giving Manny Diaz an atomic wedgie should be enough to embarrass the whiners into silence, but all it seems to invoke here is more blind mewling against anyone who doesn't shit themselves and kneel at the altar of Mack like they're apparently supposed to do. Anyone complaining about Geno Smith's actions is utterly lost.

He never addressed a woman or child. Geno went back and forth with the two grown men who heckled him.. Now the other teammates argued with recruits..

Now that sounds like a good time.........LOL.

Without getting into the right/wrong aspect of it, you'd think when the score was 21-7 that the fan might have reassessed his strategy.

I never said you were a bad fan, just insinuated that you don't value sportsmanship, which I'd say your post all but verified. Our fan base has gone wayyyy too far with this topic, but smith deserved to be called out for flicking off and cursing at a section of fans of all age groups and genders. We both know you're not so obtuse that you can't recognize how that might offend some people. No point in dwelling on this any longer, so I'll leave it at that.

I wasn't really directly addressing how you might view the post, versus the generality of "that guy is a bad fan!" that seems to waft through the spirit of this board on a frequent basis.

In truth, I value sportsmanship. If the guy flipped off the crowd or what have you, I'll consider him an asshole from here forward. And then I will move on. I don't root for cheaters, I don't like dirty play, and I get tired of the taunts and excessive celebrations. The reality is, this topic has crossed over from being about sportsmanship to being about enabling people to focus their frustrations on something meaningless as opposed to trying to understand what happened with the defense, the interior OL, or any myriad number of other things.

A lot of people spend a lot of time puffing their chests out about how classy they are or how classy their program is and that shit ends up being relatively meaningless. Win games without cheating, play clean, and look down in condescension on those who don't.

I read posts on our beloved hookem.com board where posters were bashing Sir Geno Smith on here but those posters have no idea how it truly occurred. Geno waited a significant period of time after initially getting heckled to respond at all, and when he did, he responded quite vocally. He also shot the bird at the guy who cursed him out at some point during said heckling.

I will make the following contention, as I have alluded to before: Geno avoided it as long as he could. The perpetrator of the heckling had harassed him verbally in a continuous manner. The heckler soon had a small crowd form behind him. A "Texas Angel" that was accompanying Cole Luke's family even left her seat next to me to sit to speak with the heckler. After a legitimate lengthy attempt to speak reason to the heckler, she returned to her seat and informed me that he was "too belligerent".

Finally in the 3rd quarter of the game, Sir Geno Smith responded with vigor. As Geno and the heckler began their back and forth verbal lashing, Texas scored. When this happened, Geno looked at the guy and said "watch this drive!" The subsequent West Virginia drive resulted in a West Virginia TD.

Geno returned to the sideline after scoring a touchdown to partake in more verbal sparring with the heckler. Mr. Heckler challenged Geno Smith to a fight. Sir Geno Smith told replied passionately that he would "kick (Mr. Heckler's) ass from end zone to end zone. [Note: Black Shipley finds this particular part of the story absolutely freaking hilarious!]

After Mr. Heckler was put on notice by Geno Smith that his backside would be whooped from on side of the pitch to the other, he stated that Geno Smith was a "Tampa, Fl St, Mia, FL, USF, and SEC reject"..(which makes little sense because Mr. Eugene Smith was offered by all of the Florida schools, but I digress).

When Sir Geno Smith fumbled in the 4th quarter about 85% of the recruit section began yelling GENO- GENO...Even yours truly, Brenhamhorn, kinfolk of one Darrion Johnson joined in on the GENO chants.

Geno Smith was incensed.

After Anthony Fera missed the FG attempt, Geno Smith turned to Mr. Heckler and the accompanying crowd of recruits that had joined in on the GENO chant and said quite prophetically, "Y'all (lovers of females that hath given birth to a child) are in trouble now!"

Just as Geno said, West Virginia drove down the field and scored to go up by 10 points. At this point, the entire offense for West Virginia came over to that section of fans that had previously heckled Geno Smith and began to gloat in our faces. This gloating included sticking out their tongues, the heart-warming "Degeneration X" "suck it" move where a person takes both arms and crosses them in an X formation just above the pelvic region to suggest that the viewer of said "suck it" sign is encouraged to perform fellatio like a sooner (it's a World Westling Fake thing), as well as the horns down sign.

The West Virginia trainers took part in these childish actions as well, but I didn't see a head set, so none of the West Virginia coaches were involved, but they didn't stop it either. They were aware, but apparently didn't care, since the game was not over. Geno Smith stood on bench and just stared at crowd. The other West Virginia players argued with Jake Raulerson's crew.

Then a drunk fan states to Mr. Geno Smith that he is a vagina of the derogatory sort, and that he wouldn't survive in Texas. Geno Smith replies "Furk (subsititute c for r) you and Texas." Then Geno Smith threw up the blood sign as if the bloods could 'come and take it' and he left.

It was funny really. (Or gangsta).

I doubt he cares what you think. And I'm sure he'll carry on posting as he pleases unless the hookem staff has a problem with it. But that's just me.
