I do know that recruits, Texas high school coaches and the national media absolutely love Kevin Sumlin

Tell us Gomer, how do you know those 3 entities "absolutely love" Kevin Sumlin?

Byrne can give approval to switch athletic conferences? There was no way we were going to the PAC-16 period. Yall were trying to draw something up without our knowledge and Powers wouldn't talk about it to Loftin when asked about it. Where are you getting that we willingly wanted to go to the PAC?

When you find that crap somewhere other than an Aggie alumni magazine, then we can talk.

My understanding was that Bill Byrne himself was actively involved in trying to get the Big XII Network up and running. The numbers were something like $2-$3MM per team per year. I don't know this to be a fact, but I believe Byrne presented these figures to A&M's Board. If so, we'd have to assume it was not well received as A&M decided to bolt for the SEC within weeks of the LHN's contract being made public.

    Racer,
I would like to enroll in your weekend CE courses. I have learned so much from your posting that I would like to pay for your direction as I seek the ultimate truth in the universe. (Which obviously does not emanate from College Station)

Aggie leaders demanded more money from the Big 12 and got it. They demanded no high school games on LHN and got it. They demanded an SEC invite and got it. I would hate to play poker with these men. They played Beebe. They played Powers and Dodds and continue to get exactly what they ask for. You might think it is a dumb move, but there is no denying that these men got exactly what they wanted each step of the way.

I don't think they played anybody. In the end, they'll have played themselves as usual. Dodds and others tried to save you from yourselves but weren't successful.

  • wow, this is a fun thread..

In the end, the moral of the story is don't let emotion make a decision over fact and true return analysis. It looks like it was a broken relationship and he/she was just looking for a smoothe operator to come along and sweep them off their feet promising champagne, riches, and a lifestyle of the rich. it didn't matter that concessions were made to make the relationship keep going. Then to justify leaving, there had to be something we had done.. (guilt) and gives them a convenient excuse if it all fails.. well, we wouldn't be here if those horns did not try to rape us. Too bad they don't realize that smoothe operator is always looking for new skirts to manipulate. It was not about you, it was about getting access to your "friends" homes. Soon, you will have friends of Slive inviting themselves over to your old neighborhood to take advantage of your opening the door. It is all about money and manipulation. Your puppy love was abused.

As with relationships going through divorce, we'll all get over it. We'll find that there are many more wonderful friends to spend our time with and it will come back as 'why did we try so hard to make that broken relationship work". Anyone who has been through this knows what a great feeling to be themselves and not constantly guessing (on both sides in this case) if they are cheating or not, or doing things against our knowledge. When dialogue breaks down and distrust enters, it is all but gone. There may be a recognition of mistake in the future but by that time everyone will have moved on to start a new relationship. Why go back to something so painful and emotional.

Time to look forward and we have a lot of other friends and new friends to get to know.
