I know there are a lot of people who want to axe Mack and I understand how people can be frustrated, but I really do think that would be a huge mistake unless we really do tank it the next season or two, Far better it would be for Mack to be coach for the next few years and then take an administrative position to help the next coach in the ways he knows best. To fire him would alienate him without a doubt and just as Darrell was around for Mack it would only make sense for Mack to still be a part of the family when the next coach takes the reigns. He has had a huge impact on Longhorn Football and he should have the opportunity to go out with a bang, not a whimper, I know he has let some conference championships get away. I know he's been stomped by OU a few too many times. But he has also taken us on a run not experienced since the late sixties and early seventies. Mack does leave a legacy and I think it far better for our Longhorn family for him to leave on his own terms and maintain continuity rather than cast him off. He has also made a boatload of money for Longhorn Athletics as well. Downvote away.

3 yr records and how much money he makes are ridiculously stupid points. It isn't his fault they paid him a stupid amount of money and why mention the three year run without mentioning the previous years of the coaching stints as well? He either is or isn't good enough to coach here.
Personally, his time has come although I'm fine with one more year. The last two OU blowouts were more than I can stand. And for the first time, he's lost his touch on the recruiting trail.

That has put me in the question Mack staying on as head coach camp. That being said my upvote gave you a plus 8 out of 60. You expressed a reasonable opinion and that is what this board should be about. -

Let's just do it. After all, we're TEXAS. We're ENTITLED to win. We've PAID for it. Nine or ten wins doesn't matter. I want 'em all. Every top recruit should come here, period. Hello . . . we're TEXAS. We DESERVE to win because it's our tradition. I want to pick up my championship at the drive thru window, with extra mustard. Please don't make me get out of the car.

Nothing changes at Texas until ESPN pulls out, or at least threatens to pull out if the product doesn't turn up a few notches.
The UT BOR and academia is ecstatic with the ESPN money. Nothing else matters.
This is the legacy of DeLoss. Books will be written about this grand quagmire that DeLoss built, shortly after it all catches fire and burns to the ground. I just hope Texas can survive once the carnage is complete.
