Food for thought: If Texas goes 10-2 in the regular season...

The Texas strengths vs the OU weaknesses are glaring...

Texas DB vs OU WR = Texas Texas DE vs OU RT/LT = Texas Texas RB/TE vs OU LB = Texas Texas LB vs OU RB/TE = Texas Texas LB/DB vs Landry Jones = Texas

If Harsin's the offensive genius he's been made out to be, McFarland should have 6+ rec against OU LB's...& Daje/Gray should have another 3-4 rec...I give OU the edge in DL vs Texas OL & even with Texas WR vs OU DB

I would also add Texas could have a 5-man DT rotation against OU interior OL...if Texas can't take adv of those match-ups, then SWAG doesn't mean & Mack & his assistants will have been out-coached again...as of today, I still contend Texas is 10 pts better than OU

This is in response to the other guy that asked which of these I thought were wrong.

I agree with DB vs WR because we dont have a clue what our WRs will be like.

I think DE vs OT is a push. Same LT we had last year, different RT but he would have been a starter if he had not been injured. Your DEs didnt do much against us and may have improved, but our OTs have been practicing too. On second thought, based on what we know, I say its advantage OU until they can get to Jones. They have not done that yet.

Its OU in the RB vs LB arguement. Your RBs did nothing against us before and its the same LBs you saw last year minus Lewis. Lewis is a big deal, but he was a shell of himself last year with that foot injury. When he and Wort went out, we had Nelson and Bird in and we still shut the run down. Now, your boys have potential, but aginst us, they have done nothing. They ran well against lesser talent, but not against us. Its ADV OU here.

Now LBs/DBs vs Jones is a bad comparison. That brings in the WRs and TEs and we dont know what they will be like. Jones has been very good against texas in his time on the field, going 2-0 as a starter but losing the 09 game. Still, no INTs that I can remember against your team. So, Jones has the advantage in that your boys arent going to trick him. In 10, you guys had some great DBs then too and he had another good game. This year, same set up but the WRs are an unknown for us. All that said, I dont know how you compare this group. Its really not a match.

Now, our OL vs your DL will be a good one to watch. We lost Latu so that a shot to our depth. Still, lots of starts are out there. I say texas until we can run the ball but we will keep Jones upright.

The OU DL vs the texas OL. I have to see it to believe that your OL has indeed improved that much. We will have a new face or two on the depth chart, but for the most part its the same people minus Alexander and Lewis. We will make it tough for you to run the ball. As much depth as you have at DT, we have at C and OG, so lets see how it all plays out.

There is no way, on any planet in this or another solar system that the texas WR vs the OU DBs is an advantage for texas.

I like us in this game by 2 TDs right now.

There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.

  • The position group vs position group argument is so useless that I refuse to even read your post.

  • If the total points for Texas-OU is 30 I'm taking the under. I think we'll see that kind of game this year.

    OU won't score two TDs.

"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.

  • Wow. I'm betting that number is at least 46 because of the early blowouts on the schedules. I don't do sports betting anymore after going about 40 bets in a row without a winner. Sadly, that is not an exaggeration. A monkey throwing darts is a better gauge.

Well, at least you said it.

Thats a really low total. I think our balance on offense this year will give you guys more problems than many over here may think.

But the losses are to Baylor and TCU, would you still consider it a good year?

I think Jeff is looking at the two classic trap games for the season.

A young team beating OSU, WVA, and OU the three weeks before and then looking at the next four being BU, KU, TT, and ISU and having a letdown. A young team having to bring it 4 straight weeks is tough. Jeff is thinking of a 2008 scenario; beat three ranked team three weeks in a row and be undefeated then fall flat the next game.

Then with TCU looking ahead to the Texas' kyptonite KSU and the KSU game possibly having conference title implications for one or both teams.

Those are two games I think Texas is going to be favored in, but games I could see going the other way.

For the record, I think Texas does beat West Virginia and Oklahoma in 2012.

    Drinking the koo aid!!!!!

    Awesome.

    PS,

Does 10-2 equal winning the conference? If yes then no question it's a great season. If no then we'd have to win a BcS bowl to be a great season but 10-2 is a damn good season no matter how you slice it.

Yeah, I can live with 10-2 and a win over the dirt burglers.

  • Oklahoma would consider that a bad year because of the expectations and the experience at Quarterback but if texas does it then that means they beat WV OK K-State OKS and back to 10 wins regular season with a sophmore team practically. If you ask me that should reach their expectations for 2012. When there is still talks if freshman will start key positions and a lot of the positions at least on off. is ran by sophmores the team isn't there yet for a 10 win season no matter what 10 wins they are so 10 wins will be a good year for them especially if Baylor and TCU were the ones to beat them. That means they made too many mistakes not because they were the better teams.
