Gerry - would you say that our O line recruiting (meaning the types of recruits) is any different the last 2 years than the previous few as some have assessed? And if so, do you think we are seeing the influence of the head coach in waiting?

I think it's more about trying to get more athletic on the line. Also the fact that North Shore has had two tremendous guys come out the last two years as well.

He is an extremely impressive looking prospect. Very excited about the 2010 and 2011 OL classes.

I think those two classes combined are very talented. I could see the future starting line coming from the group with which player playing left tackle the issue.

Westerman at RT, Flowers at RG, Espinosa at C, Hopkins at LG and at LT...TBD

Josh Cochran is a guy who (based on what Cochran and the Hallsville coaches told me twice this spring) could be a LT down the line. To me he's a guy who is going to work hard and he's got a massive frame (in the high 270's/low 280's with a ton of room to grow. Could easily see him being a 6-7, 320-pounder with feet and a finisher's mentality down the road.

    LT Walters

    LT Walters

In the Walters scenario, I think Hopkins could end up the LT.

I think it's more likely to be Paden Kelley LT (going out on an off the field limb here), Hopkins LG, Espinosa C, Walters RG and Westerman RT. Sedrick Flowers 3rd guard.

    That is two years out.

Next year, likely Kelley at LT, Hopkins LG, Snow C, Walters RG and Westerman RT. Espinosa 3rd guard/back up C, Flowers mix at G (depending on what happens with Tray Allen).

Hutchins, Doyle, Greenlea and Cochran redshirts.

  • Based off recent history if Kelley wins the LT job next year he will be the LT until his eligibility is up. I hope Kelley makes the weight room progression needed from him to play at this level, that will show how bad he wants it sets up really good for him last year.

I worry about off-field issues, too. He's already been suspended once.
