Good stuff Bobby...
...2013 identity should be Jonathan Gray with 1400ish yards & 10+ TD's
I do believe Texas will have an underrated DL next year as I expect Shiro Davis to make a strong impact...but I can't believe anything about the 2013 def until I see it

No matter the talent level, experience and senior leadership are critical in the game of college football. I hope if Diaz stays for another year he adjusts his scheme to allow our superior athleticism make the plays. Or how about we just hire TCU or KState's defensive coordinator and send Manny packing. Fire and brimstone, Muschamp style seems to inspire the troops.
Sadly Texas has a head coach who wants put a square peg into a round hole
Jordan Hicks will also be a senior in 2013 and a key to the defense. Not counting Fera that is 10-11 senior starters and a lot of talent when they came out of high school so looking to 2014 we could be "really young" to quote Mack Brown. The good thing about being young in 2014 and probably back to a team with no identity is Mack will be gone. He's looking for a soft landing and 2013 should give him that. IMO he and Dodds will leave about the same time, I just hope Brown has zero say on his replacement and Dodds zero say on his replacement as well.

Hopefully Major won't be handcuffed in his play calling... The absolute determination to switch from the spread to a power running game has yet to yield results, but completely abandoning it this far in would make little sense... However, mixing in a little of the spread would be interesting
Agree that we lack an identity and that's really ashame because I really thought our D and run offense would have been "great" this year. I think our run offense could potentially be very good but how will we go from one of the worst all-time defenses to one that is great let alone good?
Leadership is huge as you emphasized. I agree that the team should get more wins especially with the schedule and I'm hoping we can be that great run offense and at least have a solid defense that doesn't have the knack for giving up big plays. I think Ash will put up big numbers if the running game is working. The kid matured alot this year.
Hook 'Em! ...'til early in the morn.
Bobby Burton: "...Applewhite, moreso than Bryan Harsin, understands the need for the Horns to score on every possession."
Bobby, can you please elaborate a bit on this? I'm not quite sure what you mean.
