Fight in locker room

  • The players know Mack is soft and weak, hell they knew it back in '10 once Colt and Orakpo left and soft ass Mack and his cronie Mad Dog let everyone slide on workouts and such. Wylie won't let that happen anymore, but the players still have not gained any respect for Mack because they can see he's soft. Hopefully this incident is a wake up call to Mack that everyone sees he's full of shit, his own players don't respect him, and it's time to hang it up... But we all know there's no way his delusional ass would see the truth.

This has been one of the single worst coaching jobs I've ever seen. It's one thing to not have talent and struggle, but to just not show up multiple games in a season and be disrespected by your own players because they see you're weak... That's a new low. We're in crisis gentlemen, and without change NOW we will not recover.

Pepper11 and Goo have it right. Everybody can see through Mack's bullshit by now, even freshmen, and most have been able to see through it for some time. This is a clear sign of lack of respect for Mack, for good reason. Mack has been resting on his laurels from winning 2 conference championships in 15 years plus the NC on the strength of the greatest performance by a player in college history, enjoying the limelight and blowing smoke up everybody's asses including the players. Even if you are 18 or 20 years old, Mack's bullshit is as clear as water. I don't blame the player because he is dead on.

We are right back to where we were in 2010 when Mack literally lost the team about this same point in time or slightly sooner. The coaches that got fired had already checked out as had most of the team. Mack had earlier called out the coaches saying he didn't feel like he could trust them, then said he was really disappointed in the seniors. Both excuses were feeble attempts to deflect criticism to where it belonged. Mack allowed the OL recruiting to drop to a pathetic level beginning in 2006, which led to having the porous OL we had starting in 2009. Colt and Shipley masked it, but the OL was terrible.

Look for Mack to use this locker room incident to deflect blame against the player instead of acknowledging that this is just a manifestation of morale issues, all caused by pathetic, tired and ineffective leadership from the head coach. Mack puts up with Manny's idiotic mugging and stunting and he has all year. That is on Mack for tolerating it. The players are more frustrated than we are and they can see what the problem is. Mack Brown #1 and Manny Diaz #2 and Brian Harsin #3. Those are the top three issues with the team and the players can't do a damn thing about any of them.

"Look for Mack to use this locker room incident to deflect blame against the player instead of acknowledging that this is just a manifestation of morale issues, all caused by pathetic, tired and ineffective leadership from the head coach. "

Well we fans cannot let these shenanigans to be continued to be used by the Emporer who wears no clothes!

And each of you that states that Harsin is not getting it done I'm telling you it's the handcuffs Mack is placing on him to protect Manny!

Coaching staffs aren't allowed to force workouts during the summer. So, it kind of is up to the players to keep it organized.

    groly

  • That may be the case, however if I was the coach I'd know who did or didn't show and those that decided to skip would pay a price at practices to a point where they would think twice about doing it again. Don't tell me that doesn't go on elsewhere.

Yes, no programs in the NCAA keep tabs on what players do during the summer. Nor do they have a dedicated team of highly trained strength and conditioning coaches to oversee what players do over the summer. Certainly these coaches don't suggest or, indeed, explicitly state that dedication to off-season workouts will impact in-season playing time and performance. I bow to the wisdom of your literal, letter-of-the-law worldview.

Of course some programs break the rules. Some programs also pay players, get them fake jobs, pay high school coaches to push kids their way, contact recruits during the dead period and plenty more. Are you suggesting Texas does that too?

Do you think it's just a coincidence when we have strong leaders on the team, our offseason workouts are more organized and productive?

Great coaches "force" it simply by making it known and understood that anything less will not be tolerated and an atmosphere of competition for positions is fostered.

Now that we know what they'll fight for, someone should tell them before the games, they'll only get Sally's cookies IF they win.

No. Do you think it's coincidence that teams with coaches who demand accountability are consistently good rather than mediocre with flashes of greatness when generational players fall from the sky to grace the program for a few years?

Of course not. That's not what you were saying before. Demanding accountability and breaking the rules are two different things.

In response to groly's post that coaches aren't allowed to force offseason workouts, you said:

"I looked up naive in the dictionary, it said "see groly". I was confused until I saw this post."

What were you suggesting he was naive about then? I'm excited to hear your answer. People will go to lengths of absurdity to defend a failing point before admitting they were wrong.

I'm just stating the rule smart ass. For the many things you can fault Mack for, its unnecessary and unfair to fault him for compliance.
