I know there is a good chance he is full of it but it does sound good.

No matter what thanks for posting. Because none of us know if it BS or fact at this point.

Yeah I'm all for it! the part about playing UT & OU every year is probably not gonna happen, there's no rivalry there I don't know who that would benefit and why give preferential treatment to a new member begging to get out of their current league?

  • If we add 4 teams to get to 14, I see the 5 new east teams along with Iowa St and one of Ksu or KU. We play 6 inner division games every year and 3 cross division games.

Essentially, the B12 would have swapped out a piss poor North division for a much improved East division and a lot more money.

    I don't like a 16 team idea.

  • Posters on our bourd are skeptical (but praying) this is true. I don't believe the part about playing OU and/or Texas every year is true since we want to keep our rivalries with UF and UM intact.

Forgive my ignorance, but how would playing Texas and/or OU prevent you from playing either UF or Miami?

I have no problem believing they would play EITHER UT or OU every year since that was the case for several Big 12 North teams when we had divisions. That could be done with little to no special accomodation and would likely work better for FSU than playing both in one year and neither the next.

What I believe is highly unlikely, and maybe impossible, is that FSU has been promised to play both EVERY year.

Those who can, do; those who can't, coach; those who never could, complain about the first two.

I don't think we would keep our rivalry with UM intact unless they came to the Big12.

Playing one of of Texas/OU every year
    A BIG-12 conference sched
UF at the end of the year (This won't go away)
    And then a potential CCG

Just too much on one plate to add Miami.

But then again, with the direction Miami is heading, they could end up being our FCS opponent

  • I think we wanted Miami but the big 12 said no, so we are going to have to drop that game.

    I thought Miami said No?

Shalala doesn't care about the football team, not even 1%. She only pretends to care when donations are involved. The football team could get the death penalty, and not a single you know what would be given by her.

That's huge then, since he is very well connected to WVU.

  • While the MHV or whatever guy clearly has issues (those who have been on that board for any amount of time will know what I'm talking about), he clearly has actual sources.

FSU and Clemson have no business being in the ACC, in my opinion.

Florida State fields a good basketball team. So do schools like Alabama and Texas. However, we are all first and foremost football schools and should be aligned accordingly.

We also have the No.1 ranked baseball team in the country, and the best track and field program every year.

I think KU and KSU go the East together. ISU will be in the West. Remember Missouri is in the SEC East.

Otherwise, just a big fan of adding Clemson and FSU. Both teams add something of value in football, basketball, and baseball.

Right. I don't think the two Kansas schools would like to split. Iowa St does seem more like a natural fit for the east than west. Nonetheless, lots still left to be decided.

  • I hope the Big XII expands enough to where we can keep the Kansas schools in the same division as Texas. I love playing KU every year in basketball, and like it or not, Kansas State in football. They always seem to get up to play Texas and Snyder has just reinforced that post-Prince. Bring it on, I say. Plus it'd just be weird if they were in the east, but I guess they would make Iowa State feel less alienated if that were to occur.

Just say we lose Nebraska, Colorado, Mizzou and A&M and replace them with West Virginia, TCU, Florida State and Clemson.

Can't really argue that isn't an upgrade IMO. Better overall programs in football, basketball, and baseball. And much more national appeal, and a larger footprint.

Add a couple more like Notre Dame and Georgia Tech and you've got a damn good argument on your hands that the Big XII would be the premier football conference in the country.

I guess I did not make myself clear, my fault if so. Clearly, playing OU and Texas every year on top of UF and UM along with Clemson, West Virginia, and a west divisional opponent such as OSU or TCU would be brutal.

We would have to rotate opponents on the other side of the conference to keep things fresh and not to beat up the best in the conference every year. The format will be similar to what the ACC and SEC have done, play a team on the other division a home and home series then a break for a couple or so years.

I'm from south Florida and it would be sad for me to see the Florida State and UM rivalry go away so I would prefer keeping both of our in-state rivalries while playing a Texas or Oklahoma every now and then.

    RaidingNole

  • I'm from Texas and I was sad to see Texas and Texas A&M sacrifice their storied rivalry to the hands of conference realignment. Get used to heartbreak. All these #%*¥ers care about is the money, not the history nor the rivalries. The Big 12 has somehow put themselves in the drivers seat of a much nicer ride.
