In a few years he will probably be off at some smaller school as an assistant coach.
You guys DO realize that he's replacing a position held by yet ANOTHER former FSU player?
If you hadn't have lost the recruiting battle none of you would be making a fuss over it. I think it's very possible we would've still hired him even if he didn't have a son, assuming he still had high school coaching experience. We bring back former players all the time in these capacities. And none of them had sons we were recruiting.

Would you like to venture a guess on how many years from now that would be? I'll guess 3-4.
Was the position he's filling for a former FSU player also the father of the top recruit in the nation who was seriously wavering on his commitment the very year he's hired for the job?
And if we would have won the recruiting battle we wouldn't be making a fuss over this because FSU wouldn't have hired Edwards.

Zero. They would have applauded Mack for taking on such a young coach. Many of these same people openly wanted Mack to hire Jeffcoat to increase our likelihood of signing Jackson. It all depends on what side of the field you're on. Texas fans are quick to be a moral authority when it suits their narrative.

Jeffcoat's father was very open and supportive of allowing his son to choose his own school as most parents seems to be these days (Jake Oliver, etc.). If Mario Edwards Jr. would have picked a school besides FSU I imagine we would have seen a Landon Collins type incident.
I was a bit bothered by the way his dad handled his recruitment. His son even decommitted at one point. And no I wouldn't do the same in regards to pushing my own kid towards UT, and I didn't support hiring the elder Jeffcoat to influence his son's decision.
Over signing is also not against the rules, but it's still a dubious form of recruiting worthy of passing judgement on.

Mario Edwards went to FSU. It's not the least bit uncommon for former players to go back. I doubt money was a real issue here and Jr has been talking about going to FSU for 3 years now. Making more out of this than needs to be made.
If we sign Vince's son then hire him as a coach latter would you complain too?

i see the likely reason for the angst here.
-we will lose Okafor after this season and probably Jeffcoat. both projected as first round picks.
-Hall decommitted. Prevot(who i don't want) is headed elsewhere. either way, he takes a few years before he's ready physically.
-Cedric Reed is promising and i like him. Reggie Wilson is still a bit of an unknown we're waiting on. we'll see.
-Blueitt is a true freshman and being mentioned as a TE.
-Ridgeway i like, but a true freshman, young player.
-rush DE/gate crasher is a prime position and the hardest to find difference makers at.
-DE may be about to be a position of concern and will probably be thin in terms of depth and experience. it's probably why we recruited Mike Mitchell for it(DE) and are shopping the JUCO market.
-Edwards would have filled a potential problem area, though due to his size as a JR was being recruited as a future DT.
now we're pointing fingers at dad and assumed that's(employment) the only reason he signed w/ FSU. really? his old school he starred at? asinine thought, but perhaps Mario SR wanted to climb the ladder from HS to college and took the opportunity? and possibly looking at bigger jobs down the road?
strange witchhunt we have here.
