"Don't know. Never had one" -- D. Royal-Mack Brown how to coach a team after a losing season

  • Payton was the guy you wanted up to bat in the ninth with the game on the line.

Unfortunately he struck out to end the game.

    And the season?

It's hard to say the Longhorns deserve to make the tournament when you end the year losing four of your last five games.

I wonder what the RPI will drop to. It went from 41 to 45 after yesterday's loss to Missouri.

  • So, the 'Horns lose to: 1) a Mizzou team that was barely above .500 (but below .500 in conference) during the regular season; and 2) a Kansas team that was 10 games under .500 (and not much better in conference) during the same time frame. I think that should just about end any further discussion about going to the tournament. This team would just embarrass themselves further.

  • You know that Charlie Brown movie where he makes the final of the national spelling bee, misspells "beagle" (Snoopy's breed of dog) and then lets loose a guttural, "AUGHHH!!!!" Yeah, it's kind of like that...

  • Augie quotes to AM1300:

"It's disappointing that the team did not battle back. It's surprising and disappointing. I don't know where this puts us in the minds of the committee. I think we needed these wins. We'll see what happens on Monday."

The news about Curtiss is certainly a appropriate end for this season...........

Guys if this is the last game thanks to Alan and Dave for covering the games. Special shout out to Bruce for posting during the games.................I travel a lot so it helps me keep up with the scores........

  • You have to wonder what lies ahead. Augie will be 74 when the season begins next year.

  • I really think Augie wants one more national championship.

Plus, he always says that baseball is his life. I think he and Wayne Graham are similar.

You're going to have to pry their jobs from their dead hands.

That's unforunate, because these type of situations never end well.

agreed...thanks for the updates. I was only able to catch 3 in person this year which was probably a good thing. I have debated purchasing season tickets for several years but I think I will wait to see what direction the program heads with the offseason. My guess is little to no changes will occur.

What is the likelihood of any of the incoming recruits being able to provide a big stick in the middle of the lineup?
