Did he mean to slam Texas with that remark, or did he mean to say "can't"?

Why would a kid say Akina was one of the top position coaches in the country then slam him? Was this a serious question?

Yes it was. I think he was misquoted because the quote, by itself, seems to imply that you can stay a long time at Texas and not know what you're doing. As you pointed out, that doesn't match context at all.
Just saying that he meant to say "can't" instead of can, or it was a typo....

I like this kid a lot, and not only as an athlete. Seems like someone with his head screwed on very well. Hope he likes us as much as I like him.
