ESPN's QBR and VY

  • For those that don't know, QBR is a tool ESPN uses to measure overall quarterback effectiveness. Over the last three seasons, according to ESPN, Vince Young has the fifth best QBR in football at 69.2, ahead of Philip Rivers (66.5), Tony Romo (65.7), Matt Ryan (65.4), Matt Schaub (65.4) and Michael Vick (64.9).

    The four guys ahead of VY on the list:
    Peyton Manning (75.9)
    Drew Brees (75.8)
    Aaron Rodgers (74.7)
    Tom Brady (71.3)

    Wouldn't have pegged VY to be that high on the list.

  • I wonder why it seems so many teams think he is radio active. Is it possible Jeff Fisher influence is so great or is Vince just bad in the locker room?

    I think a lot of it had to do with Fisher. He never wanted Vince in the first place and used every excuse he could to put him down. The sports media also never really liked Vince and tried to discount his effecttiveness. Vince, of course, didn't help himself any by his attitude when confronted with difficulty.

  • I blame Fisher but not as much as the Aggriods who run the Houston Texans and did not take Vince. I believe given a good team he would be once again a winner. ESPN has never forgiven him for beating their beloved girly boys of USC but they are at least honest with this ranking.type_angry

  • Fisher is known around the league as a players coach. VY was playing for a guy that never wanted him but was respected around the league. Just not an ideal situation, but VY didn't help matters any either.

  • I'm one of Vince's biggest supporters, but you cannot...CANNOT...react to a coach by throwing your shoulder pads in the stands and storming off when your coach calls you over in the locker room. I don't care what Fisher may or may not have said. It doesn't matter. Vince's reaction shouldn't be tolerated in middle school, much less the pros.

    I'm hoping that Vince has matured. I have my doubts, but I hope so since this is likely his last reasonable shot at making it in the NFL.
