Sadly, I think this has been well demonstrated in a number of sports sites. I am at times pretty political and convicted in my faith with the best of 'em but certainly do not hang out here to find out what any of you think about religion or politics. I also have the option if I want to get to know another poster's thoughts on an issue to private message them and am pretty sure I'll be polite and they wont get all "in your face" or become an internet "tough guy" over a one on one discussion.

I have no problem with the concept of a separate site for off topics, and I am sure there would be some interesting sharing of ideas, but it is pretty impossible to moderate the thing because we have seen what results from the "road rage-like" intensity that many are prone to when you open up that can of worms. Sort of falls in that category of watching that "your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble". Some really can not handle it. Would hate to see our strong, sports staff have to waste time trying to moderate such a place when I want them over here dealing with the real issues we all join this site to hear about.

One way to do this would to decide on and create a link on this site from which one could click on that would go to an existing site, not affiliated with Hook 'Em that does that sort of thing and would not fall back on Hook em if things were to get too far out of hand. This would keep it off this site, protect our moderators from the head aches and potential liability issues even and allow those who want such an outlet to have a common place to post with others from this site.

I don't think I make your point at all but the reality is it does show up here from time to time even if you feel it shouldn't. If it is, so what, ignore it and move on.

Personally I like it on here because it ups the humor quotient on the board when people start getting all butthurt over it. There's nothing more entertaining then watching some of you get all worked up over nothing. Theres a lot more going on in life then this type of stuff and I don't take it that seriously. Clearly some of you do which makes reading these threads very entertaining. Especially during the offseason.

Bottom line for me is people have their beliefs. Cool. i may or may not agree. So what.

I can't go to Tebow.com because they don't allow sports discussions about the failures of GG or how we could have beaten Tech in 08 except for the lousy so and so who dropped a surefire interception and never really deserved to start for the team except he bled for the team. For whatever reason they refuse to set up an OT board.

I agree. Someday you can look at the first page and there are posts that haven't been commented on in over a day. That's not good. I don't see what it would hurt to have an OT board.
