I doubt that a move to safety would improve his draft stock. Safety isn't a highly drafted position as a general rule to begin with. Barron going in the top 10 this past draft was something of an aberration. The only other safety taken in the first round went late in the round.
And while it's true that Diggs doesn't have optimal height for a CB, the same would hold true for the safety position. There aren't too many NFL safeties who are 5'8" or 5'9". Short guys like Polamalu and Bob Sanders are the exception.
With all that said, I wouldn't bet against Diggs making it in the League at some position. Kid's just a baller with terrific instincts, some burst and the willingness to mix it up. His skill set might be better suited to be a slot/nickel type DB in the NFL.

Tri-starters is the lamest shit I've ever heard, and frankly neither Thompson or JT are the answer at safety right now.
I'd rather roll the dice and make whole sale changes to the back end. Move Diggs to FS, Vaccaro to SS and let Duke or Sheroid Evans get some on the job training (ideally this would've been explored over the bye week, but that'd make far too much sense).
Diggs is honey badger with better man to man cover skills, and he's being wasted sitting out on an island. Let him roam around center field and let Kenny hang out around the LOS where he is best suited for. It's not ideal timing but it's a move that needs to be made imo.

Look, I'm as frustrated as everybody else seems to be, but as long as Duane Akina is our db coach and calling the shots, then I trust him to make the best decisions based on his assessment and behind-the-scenes knowledge. Nobody on this board is smarter than he is.

I don't see the J.Gray 'opp to start this game' and I'll raise you on the Joe Bergeron comment... Gray will get a few more reps, but I don't believe you start him over B or B based on a few carries in the game If JB is a 'step or two slower this season', then he doesn't make that off tackle run, change of direction/reverse field play for 20 yards in the 4th qtr.!

Well, it seems like Cobbs is struggling a bit at LB... given our poor tackling and get "out physical-d" in the secondary, maybe it's time to give him a look at SS. I know he used to be a Safety before moving to LB, so it may not be such a leap for him.
Anyone seen Blake Gideon? :) I am totally kidding with that one.
