Fera is apparently a very slow healer. It's getting more ad more concerning.

Or they don't want to risk losingn him the 2nd half of the season by bringing him in too early.

I think you are thinking of Byndum.

Nope, #25. Saw it repeatedly when he tried to converge in run support especially

    Fumblerooski

  • Byndom got bullied too. Turner was absolutely abused though.

    WildBill71

  • The defensive backfield is a dumpster fire right now. What did this group do all summer and fall camp? Not physical at all. Can’t tackle. Don’t run to the ball. Get trucked by WR’s and backs. Can’t get aligned.

I want to see Turner at SS, I think he can make the plays better then Mykkele and AP

Gonna be hard for me to shake the image of him getting trucked before I can feel great about lining him up at SS.

    RichUT

  • Bottom line, you can either keep things the same and definitely get torched, or you can switch it up and maybe get torched or maybe find the solution. It appears Mack and crew are fans of the former.

indeed, he got his butt trucked as bad as I've ever seen....I think it was Randle or a WR on one that just completely ran over him and was not even slowed down by Turner....

I agree with another poster...other than #4 and #6, this might be the least physical defensive backfield I've seen in a long time.

Someone on OB who knows him said it was a partial tear of the groin. That takes some time to heal.

  • Mykkelle had one of his better games. I'm happy to see him get more PT. Turner I think is mis-cast at safety. I think they're trying to make Phillips into a Mike Griffin safety instead of letting him be more of the Earl Thomas type.

I'd also like to cast another vote for Leroy Scott and nominate Sheroid Evans as a guy who can use insane speed to clean up whiffs.

Vaccarro has missed his share of tackles this year, too.

Tri-starters is the lamest shit I've ever heard, and frankly neither Thompson or JT are the answer at safety right now.

I'd rather roll the dice and make whole sale changes to the back end. Move Diggs to FS, Vaccaro to SS and let Duke or Sheroid Evans get some on the job training (ideally this would've been explored over the bye week, but that'd make far too much sense).

Diggs is honey badger with better man to man cover skills, and he's being wasted sitting out on an island. Let him roam around center field and let Kenny hang out around the LOS where he is best suited for. It's not ideal timing but it's a move that needs to be made imo.

Totally agree!! Diggs has Earl Thomas type skills, I think if this change is made we might tackle better as a secondary unit. It would solve our safety problems.

He's also made his share of plays as well, as has Diggs, where as CB and Phillips through 4 games, have yet to make a positive contribution. CB had a pick against Wyoming, but that was largely due to Vaccaro. Outside of that he hasn't done much but miss tackles and get beat deep.

  • If you have 2 starting qb's you don't have one. If you have three safety's you don't have any.

i was talking about the overall physicality of the DB group....other than Diggs and Vacarro, there doesn't seem to be anybody in the group that is willing to really mix it up and has something to bring to the table to boot.

Really think Gray earned an opportunity to start this game or at least be listed on the chart this week. Still think JB is a step or two slower this season thus far. He just looks a little slower getting out of the gate in the backfield than he did from last year.

I don't see the J.Gray 'opp to start this game' and I'll raise you on the Joe Bergeron comment... Gray will get a few more reps, but I don't believe you start him over B or B based on a few carries in the game If JB is a 'step or two slower this season', then he doesn't make that off tackle run, change of direction/reverse field play for 20 yards in the 4th qtr.!

    We've got it now.

Joe Bergeron and Malcolm Brown are still listed as co-starters at TB. Bergeron is listed first.

Anthony Fera is not on the depth chart this week. Nick Jordan is listed first at PK as a co-starter with Nick Rose.

Ashton Dorsey is the starting NOSE ahead of Brandon Moore.

Chris Whaley is the starter at DT. Desmond Jackson is listed at a co-backup with Malcom Brown.

Jordan Hicks is listed at the No. 1 WLB.

Big one here: Adrian Phillips, Mykkele Thompson and Josh Turner are all listed as the tri-starters at SS.

Hasn't Tank been playing at NT up until this point?

on the play that Tank got hurt on, I was really surprised to see him physically man handled by the OSU lineman....he must have been off balanced because the man is too strong to be manhandled like that.

Anyone but Phillips right now would be my choice at SS.

Agree. Phillips has been the primary culprit on 3, if not 4, big-play touchdown giveups.

  • A Monday morning depth chart means little. It's not who starts the game Saturday, it is who starts practice today. With what I saw at ss there needs to be an open competition this week to see who wants it most.

  • Mack needs to forget about this "being like a sec team defense" crap and build a defense to stop Big 12 offenses. We simply don't have the personnel to be a sec type defense and what we are doing now is just not working.
