So, does this means that Kendall Thompson did NOT have a concussion, or if he did, he passed the required tests? I sincerely hope this isn't a Bellicheckian attempt at playing injury "possum"

Curious to see if Jinkens is the true backup to Thompson, because I don't see Thompson playing this week. I'd prefer to see Jinkens over Cobbs or another Santos/Edmond pairing.

Like the announcement of M. J. McFarland's injury from the KU game the morning of the Tech game?

No, he's starting if he's available which hasn't been fully evaluated yet. The Friday afternoon injury report will tell his story.

Couldn't agree more. Jinkens flashed a time or 2 this past weekend, and I'd love to see him getting snaps over Cobbs going forward.

  • Jinkens looked really winded in the late 4th quarter against Tech. If he's the starter, he'll need to have someone ready to spell him for a few series.

Is MJ out for the season?

  • Its a virtual given that Thompson will not play this week-end. Almost mandatory to miss a game following a concussion.

    gordosan

  • Very anxious to see how they divvy up the carries on Saturday assuming Malcolm Brown is healthy. The way Johnathan Gray has been running the ball it would be very hard to take it out of his hands.

No official comment to my knowledge. But I am told he is not out for the year.

  • Why in the hell is Josh Turner not starting? Phillips needs to be special teams only or on the bench.

After so much hype and hope, Cobbs has been nothing but disappointing all year. I don't recall ever seeing a linebacker do such a pathetic job at tackling, and he shows zero sign of improvement. Tevin Jackson may make a mistake or two, but at least he is a dependable tackler. Cobbs should sit in favor of Jackson or Jinkins

The more things change the more they stay the same.
Turner has played well and deserves the starting position. Phillips does not, nor any playing time. Played a little better against Tech, but still not good.

Would like to see Monroe get a couple more touches a game. He has run with "reckless abandon' to say the least.
Can not remember many bad plays when he has run the ball.

I'm not going to take up for the whole body of work of Cobbs for the season, but he had the QB pressure on the last offensive play of the game for Tech, where Doege threw it out of the back of the end zone on 3rd down.

I just finished going through the game the second time. Cobbs did not get a ton of time until/unless Texas went to the dime.

I felt like Phillips got picked on a little but he had more direct coverage responsibilities in this game than Turner did.

I also think Phillips tackled more than adequately. He didn't miss a tackle.

Turner got trucked once when he filled a hole.

Not trying to make the argument one way or the other, but I don't necessarily think it's as clear cut as you do. I think Phillips is a better cover guy and Turner is a better safety. If you're moving Vaccaro back to safety then Texas needs another cover guy instead of a safety. Just my $.02.

I hate to say it but its obvious that at Texas is where the TE position goes to die. Grant, Irby, and McFarland as examples

i agree it should be mandatory to sit out a game, but I bet Klein plays for KSU this week.

Seems true for a while, though we have some recruits coming that will make TE come alive again.

I hope so, I'm excited about Bluiett and Smythe can stay healthy and just produce. It's just it seems the position is always a year away. Well when is that year supposed to arrive. 2013 would be great timing though.
