Dear Mack

  • Shut up and play.

"The Horns down is disrespectful. We ought to talk about that as a league" per Bohls tweet

    Never mind. BlondeBomber added context.

  • Dear papa horn-

Shut up and research your attacks. Mack was answering a question as to the difference btwn the Horns down and Mike Davis' personal foul call.

Or, if you really want Mack to not talk about this glaring ridiculousness, you should update your letter to Mack to say, "Shut up and don't answer questions asked by reporters at your media appearances."

    BlondeBomber

  • When taken out of context, yea it sounds ridiculous. When read in the context of the entire interview, Mack is on point and the double standard is horse shit.

  • Not to mention you are referring to a 61-year old man who is Head Football Coach of the Texas Longhorns. What's wrong with people? Have we lost our minds? Come on. Just weak as week old twice-brewed coffee.

It would be nice to know how some of the big traps on this board perform at their gig and what they are drawing. Just because one is a fan does not mean you should discard your cranuim matter.

Seriously papa, his comment is spot on. The refs need to be consistent.

Fair enough. But as you can see the media is going to run with the short answer.

The problem is that lately, Mack's sounded ridiculous just about every time he's opened his mouth.

    That's all.

  • I understand that lately it's been hard to take Mack seriously and do tire of the Bellmont spin machine.

But I agree with him. Either let Mike Davis do the guns in the holster thing or flag him and anyone doing the horns down thing. I used to get mad about the upside down horns, but I've learned to take it as flattery!

  • This is an example of why people hate Kirk Bohls. To tweet that without giving context is ridiculous and unprofessional. He makes it sound like that was part of Mack's prepared remarks and instead of talking about the game he talked about the horns down.

    utsal

  • Mike Davis did his at the back of the endzone and again inside the endzone when he reached teammates. Williams did the downwards horns twice right after he crossed the goal line and no flag was ever thrown. To me, if your going to call it on us, you need to be consistent and call it on them too.

Well, Journalists are people and they come from the general population which is flawed as we all are. If you have any doubts check the OP.

Yup, guilty. I did not see the interview and am guilty of running with the sound byte. I think a few more down votes are in order. nono

I absolutely agree with you papa. This is disgraceful behavior, and I'm not just piling on Mack right now. I would feel the same way if this were 2005 or 2009. Bitching about horns down is about as weak and whiney as it gets. Do I think Davis should've been flagged? No, but the whining needs to stop Mack.

The problem is that Texas was humiliated on national TV by OU and every week by the defense not being able to stop anyone. Texas has become one big joke across the country. Mack was correct about the LHN and the Horns down but because of the humiliations they look like whining and excuses. If Texas only loses by a TD to OU and the defense is decent then the LHN or Horns down controversies don't get any play nationwide.

Have you read the thread? Mack was asked a specific question about the Horns down.

    Blurred Vision

  • Mack made a very good point, when asked a specific question. It is a double standard if Davis can be flagged for holstering the guns-up in the end zone but Williams is not flagged for doing the Horns-down. He's absolutely right.

It's also ridiculous for officials to flag anybody for gestures like that. It's one thing for a player to stand over an opponent and woof at him, a la Miami of the late 1990s; THAT is taunting. Celebrating a TD is to be expected. Let players celebrate. It's an emotional game.

And Papa has already fessed up. Let it go. Any more downvotes is piling on and should get 15 yards for unsportsmanlike.

upvote. weaksauce from mack, and yes, i know he was asked the question. he answered in the most poontastic way possible and added to his national reputation of being a crybaby who runs to the [texas controlled] b12 when things don't go his way.

  • I concur with the great Darrell K. Royal on the celebration issue.

yes, and let me quote Roger Huerta - " weaksauce from mack, and yes, i know he was asked the question. he answered in the most poontastic way possible and added to his national reputation of being a crybaby who runs to the [texas controlled] b12 when things don't go his way"

The point isn't that he said it, or even if he is right, it's the fact that the context was purposely left out by Bohls to get the reaction it elicited. People saying things like he has "more important things to worry about" or "this goes to the pussification of our football team" have completely ignored the fact that all he did was answer a question. There are plenty of things to be upset with Mack about, this is not one of them.

If anyone is really upset by this, or doesn't see right through the horseshit that is Kirk Bohl's tweet, he has an axe to grind with Mack Brown. That's fine, like I said, there are plenty of reasons not to like the guy right now, but getting mad by everything that comes out of the guy's mouth reflects a lack of objectivity.

    utsal

  • My point is that because of this season Mack has a big target on his back and his answer to questions are blown out of proportion or the context is left out. The media is looking to for controversy because Mack is under fire this season.

I will add that it is BS what Bohls did.
