DeLoss Dodds: Big 10 & Pac-12 Rose Bowl/Playoff UPDATE

  • UPDATE: Rose Bowl - Big 10 - Pac 12 joining the playoff mix? Below from CBS Sports Wed night...

    "I would say there is an expectation there will be significant change," Delany said of the postseason in general."

    "When a playoff is actually finalized -- which may not be until early July -- it's going to be great. It looks like four teams for sure now. The commissioners spent four hours Tuesday just discussing how to select those teams. There is no going back, it seems."

    "The BCS as we know it with the exact policies will not continue," said BCS executive director Bill Hancock."

    "Texas athletics director and longtime playoff proponent DeLoss Dodds is ready for college football to stop tiptoeing around the Big Ten and Pacific-12 conferences and their fierce loyalty to the Rose Bowl."

    "The only way it's going to get fixed," Dodds says, "is for the rest of the country to have a playoff of some kind and let them do their (own) deal.   • Who gives a crap about the Big Ten and the Pac 12 playing in Rose Bowl anymore? Think about the most exciting Rose Bowl in the last 10 years. USC - Texas, broke tradition. The next most exciting, Texas - Michigan, broke tradition. I understand tradition in College Football, but we need major changes here.

  • Growing up a Big 10 fan, I really wish they would just let this Rose Bowl thing go and join the rest of the conferences.

    That game lost its tradition when it was no longer Big/PAC every year. And that's fine.

    I just don't understand what the Big/PAC are holding onto.
