Dallas on the Move: Cowboys' Latest Addition LB Dan Connor

  • The former Penn State ILB has started 19 games over the last two seasons for the Panthers and is coming off his best season with 75 tackles and a forced fumble.

    Good sign.

Not according to the ex scout Brian Broaddus on espn radio in Dallas. He basically refused to talk about him at all as any kind of good signing for Dallas and basically made fun of the signing.
As for myself, I thought it was probably an ok signing, but that was based on what he did at OU.

  • Texans have signed zero and lost a big one that would of demanded a lot of $$$ to keep. Cowboys signed multiple players already and up on the cap.

I like the Texans moves thus far better.....

so losing your best defensive player and signing no one equals a win for you?

Broaddis is a good scout but the relationship between he and Jones is not the best...Right or wrong, I would listen to Bryan but not in regard to the Cowboys...

Mario Williams was not the best defensive player that the Texans had. Matter of fact he probably wasn't even in the top 3. But irrespective of that, yes I consider it a win as there is no way the Texans should of even considered folding out what the Bills did to sign MW. Plus they now have more $$$ to use for other players.

Now I will fully admit my comment is largely based not on what the Texans have or have not done thus far in FA, but rather my complete confidence that whatever personnel decisions the Jones's are making they are the wrong ones. i base this opinion on what has occurred over prior decade in big D.

The Cowboys personnel decisions aren't the best in the NFL but they aren't the worst either. If you were talking about the Raiders over the last decade or the 80's Bucs; then I would agree with you. The Boys have their share of bonehead moves (both Roy Williams come to mind) but they have their share of great personnel moves too (undrafted FA's Miles & Romo). Lose the Cowboy hatred & try to evaluate the individual signings. I don't see any that make me giddy but I didn't shake my head at any either.

I don't consider Romo a winning personnel decision. Has he done Okay considering original e ps rations of him when he was drafted? Yeah I guess so. But at end of the day romo is an average NFL qb. That's it. Don't know I would give JJ high marks for making an average player at key position as the guy you are going to rely on to take you back to the promise land.

Now I agree with you regarding Miles. But for every good personnel decision JJ and SJ have made for the past decade, they have more than made up for that with equally bad decisions. Just my opinion.

oh so losing your so called 3rd best defensive player and doing nothing else equals a win for you. figures, being a texan fan you're not used to winning...

  • Kyle Kosier expected to be the next player released by Cowboys.

Based upon all the players Dallas has released or let go in free agency, plus all the ones they have added, I'm beginning to think Jerry was lying to us when he said he thought he had a roster capable of winning a Super Bowl.

I know that people are all over the lot when it comes to evaluating Romo. The truth is, only Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rogers had higher QB ratings in 2011. The Cowboys had a defense that got progressively worse as the season went by. If you put up 34 points against the Giants at home, you should win that game. Expect heavy defense in the upcoming draft.

Give the Cowboys one of the top 5 NFL Defenses and the chatter would be of a different nature about number 8 I'd bet. Also if Demarco and the Receivers had played all year.

Actually I pull for both the texans and the cowboys even though I admit pulling for cowboys has started to become difficult for me.

But yes I consider the texans deciding on not paying MW almost $100 mm with half of it guaranteed a win.

I'm sure you meant to say number 9. Number 8 is in the HOF.

  • Broaddis is an aggy tool. Pool is better than just about anyone theyve had in the secondary for the past SEVERAL seasons. You ever wonder why Broaddis isnt a scout anymore? Its because he sucks.

Cant believe Dallas is actually improving the secondary for once. They might actually do something worth a damn now.

Romo, like Miles Austin was an undrafted FA but he's far better than an "average" NFL QB by any measure.

He sits on the cusp of real top flight stardom and as mentioned elsewhere, Da Boys need them a legit D more than anything else. If Romo was on the market 20+ GMs would be hounding JJ hard to land him.

Pool is an upgrade over what they had, not a superstar signee but Da Boys appear to be getting better at each position they sign and younger too.

Keep in mind this was a team 1 play away in 5 different games from winning the division. Now that D wasn't taking them deep so glad to see they have started to address it.
