Well put, Jordan.
Time to go after Sponge Holton. Just don't let him have any video recording equipment in his dorm. Pitino (the next generation) is going to be the new Minnesota coach.

I think this is gonna turn out badly.
“Kansas may wind up number one in these polls, but that would be so unfair to Texas...” -- Len Elmore, 2/13/11
I can see why you would say that, but I'm kind of interested by this. He obviously knows the system, and it seems like he knows how to implement it. If he can succeed at Minnesota he could become a star.
This is also off topic, but I didn't know that Eric Mussleman was a college assistant until that article. If he doesn't get a job as a head coach I would love to bring him in if Springmann leaves. High energy, NBA experience, strong X and O's, and the accomplishments to earn Barnes' respect.
Very interesting scenario.
You can cross Texas State off for Springmann. Sounds like they hired Danny Kaspar. Solid fit.
Which means Texas State will be going to the Final Four and be a huge success.
I kidd but remember VCU chose Shaka over Springmann.
Yeah they aren't regretting that decision.

I can't believe Larry Teis and Texas State pulled that hire off to be honest.
Kaspar is an interesting candidate because he's a great coach but he's old. He didn't have a lot to look forward to career wise IMO.
I am sorry but go after who? More info please
Power forward who was apparently signed by by FIU by Richard Pitino for next year. He was previously supposedly either going to Temple or Rhode Island. Apparently lived with his AAU coach Darren Weissman. Don't know the whole story about why he has moved around so much. He apparently played for as a Freshman at Rhode Island and then last year as a Sophomore at Palm Beach State College. Here are a couple of web articles to get you started.

Maybe bierce is saying he is the best possible power forward out there ... maybe bierce is being facetious ... hard to tell with that guy when he is being cryptic. ;)
Bierce, what is your reference to video equipment in his dorm room? Sounds ominous to me.
Postscript: Palm Beach State College plays as a junior college, so apparently Sponge is not just jumping schools ... don't know the circumstances regarding why he left Rhode Island ... this just in!
apparently, robbery and video voyeurism were involved ... so I guess bierce was being facetious ... never mind.
Dang! It is the off season, isn't it?
Wait a minute! Don't we have a Photographic and Video Voyeurism Program within our athletic department? Come on down Sponge! Whoo hoo! Looks like we got ourselves a new power forward! ;)

Sponge man that would have been great.
He is charged with two counts of "video voyeurism," which in R.I. means he taped consensual sexual encounters without getting consent to the taping, and the tapes found their way onto the intertubes.
Not a nice thing to do, even if he is claiming someone else posted them without his knowledge.
That's why he left/was invited to leave URI.
A robbery in Miami-Dade County was the last straw for URI and they dismissed him last spring.
I have read that case has been closed, but I can't really confirm it.
Hell of a player, but probably too much baggage. I wasn't entirely serious in the suggestion to open up the scholarship fund for him, even though we are talking about a two year guy who would be a beast on the boards, can handle the ball for his size and has a nice shooting touch.
I think with Gordon and Randle having committed that he would be hands down the best PF available, if he were to be released from his commitment to FIU.

I knew you were not serious. I could tell that there was a hitch in your giddyup in that there had to be more to the story and you were just not saying. I knew nothing about him, and I am not making light of the situations he created for himself, but it was kind of funny. As I discovered more about the story ... at first I thought, well, could this be a power forward pick up? Then, oh noes! I think not! Then, I kind of felt like I was in a Rosanna Rosanna Danna skit ... Nevermind!
Stop messing with my emotions.
Not even to say he might be just a one year guy, so he wouldn't even limit the scholarships available for the 2014 class?
Bierce, would you not be surprised if Texas were even to consider him, considering his troubles?
I beg that I am tired and so am having a hard time parsing that question; however, I will say that I don't think Texas would consider him due to extant legal issues. If the RI charges are resolved, then . . . maybe, but I doubt it.
I don't think he'd be looking to come here, but I do think he'd be a perfect fit, though Holmes might not be thrilled by his arrival.
You done good with your parsing ... perfect fit skill wise or not, I would be surprised if Barnes considered him. If trouble happens in your program, I guess a coach might feel some sense of obligation to see a kid through, but considering that Rhode Island decided to cut their ties with him ... well, I guess that just speaks volumes.
Hey if we have to suffer one more year of Barnes I pray Shaka will finally pull the trigger and move.
If Barnes has nowhere else to go? Maybe but I don't think the school would be very happy.
And if this guy ends up being very good and makes it to the NBA and does something crazy then UT's name would be tied to him forever.
