TCU according to his Twitter. Sort of a surprise but the Frogs do recruit very well in East Texas.

If memory serves I think Bobby mentioned liking him the most out of all DT's in the state.
He sent me a text to confirm. I think the Frogs just landed the state's top DT for 2014.
TCU and Baylor both recruit East Texas well, in part, because of satellite camps.

Are the state rankings due for an update or is it a very down year for the position?

And ofcourse Texas didn't even offer this kid, the defensive line recruiting is disgusting right now what on earth are they doing?
Texas is moving to slow on a lot of these kids and are living in the past. The recruiting landscape is changing and I wish Texas could adapt. Texas will always get the kids that love Texas, but when it comes to a recruiting battle especially on d side they can't even put up a fight anymore
The whole "they have to come to campus to get an offer" is dumb and antiquated.
Pay no attention to the state of defensive recruiting, it has nothing to do with Manny Diaz being unable to coach a scheme or evaluate talent or recruit and its just that we want good kids who graduate and Mack knows we're about to be really good so they better hop on board if they want to join a perennial 9 win team. Raises for everyone
We're due for an update soon, I believe.
Gee, veinias, you speak as though you know something about this being a
failed recruitment on our staff's part, when in actuality we do NOT know
what all went into this kids decision to suddenly make this move to TCU...
I will assure you that one of our mods, maybe GH, that this young man
was a TCU lean or high on their list...So, with the 2014 signing day being
almost a year away, can you say this "battle" has been lost? Who knows
if this is final? Even the kid may "say" it is, yet have a change of heart...
Who knows, we might find a better alternative OOS, as Davis certainly knows
more than a double hand-full of SEC high schools/coaches...
My point is: why be so quick to criticize our coaches before you know the "story" behind what led him to jump so quickly on a TCU offer?
I can tell you that I grew up in ETexas & there is a perception issue to overcome
in many minds of influence over there. I came to UT, spurning the Aggies and had
an uncle who was highly-ranked as a State Rep, who would not even speak to me
for months. My coaches were "friendly" towards both LSU & aTm, much moreso, than
to UT. Now, that is some added pressure on some kids from that area.
I NEVER, for a second, regretted my decision to play under DKR, even though my playing
career was halted with multiple injuries. To this day, I am the ONLY football player from my ETex HS to have earned a UT schollie & I go waaaay back to a member of our 1st NC.
We HAVE in recent years made in-roads under Mack in snagging more ETex HS players &
I do think that good trend will continue.
I think Henderson would have been a tough pull for Texas. There was some work to do for sure so I don't think an offer would have made that much of a difference.
For him to go to TCU's junior day and pull the trigger it tells you this wasn't a knee-jerk decision for him.
Can't blame a kid at all for wanting to play for Gary Patterson. If I were D1 prospect in the state of Texas I'd have a hard time saying no to him as well, particularly when the alternative is Mack Brown/Manny Diaz combo.
Henderson can be the latest in a long line of TCU defensive tackles not to play in the NFL.
What a great idea. Why doesn't Texas... oh wait..
