I'm not a girls track fan by any measure but the last 100 meters of this race is crazy. Young lady is headed to Texas for school.

WOW. Reminds me of my high school days when one of our relay guys got ill and a last minute substitute for the 440 relay in high school named Stanley Redwine ran the race for his first time ever and broke the previous years state high mark for a split. Stanley went on to track greatness and is a fine college coach today. I still remember the track coach staring down at his watch and Stanley coming up and asking how he did, to which he replied.."Stanley, you just broke the state record". That is when coaches feel very stupid for not realizing what they have in a player an how out of position some kids are, lol.
Do we have any other good track recruits - men or women?
I know our football scholarships are tight... but she may be worth it
52.89 anchor. By comparison the 5A champ team had a 53.50 anchor.
On the original link, the side bar contains a vid of Okolo's 2012 UIL record 400. Beat the state record by 0.06 seconds and the 4A record by 0.25 seconds. Ran in lane three, made up the stagger by 200 meters, and beat the field by 1.7 seconds.

That was amazing! Does she have any brothers?
When watching the video, your like no way she wins. She is not even in the picture!!! Then she just gets a burst of speed that ive never seen and is gone!!!!!
forget brothers, can she catch?
Disciplina praesidium civitatis
The women have a good 300 hurdler in Melissa Gonzales of Carrolton Creekview and a fairly good 200m sprinter in Kiersten Duncan of Cypress Springs. We also have a pretty good distance prospect or two.
The men have the guy who won the 5A pole vault at state, Reece Watson of Spring. He has a best of 17'7" this year, I believe.
That is dang great stuff... her shoes should be checked for jets in them! Wow indeed...
so much for Wilson. Let him go to Oregon. Get this lady. wow
Bobby, thanks so much for posting this. I was so tempted to turn it off after half way through the last lap. I mean, how could it get interesting was my thought. Man oh man.
That kind of reminded me of the Mile Relay at the 1976 Texas Relays where Lam Jones may have run the fastest anchor leg in high school history to win the most exciting Mile Relay ever at the Texas Relays. I get goose bumps just thinking about that and the fact that just a few months later, Lam won Olympic Gold in the 4X100 Relay before he even started classes at UT. Thanks for posting that, Bobby.
"I've heard some of our fans say, 'We were always an SEC school. We just didn't know it," athletic director Bill Byrne said.
Lets get her 3-4 plays a game from a jet sweep package can hope she can catch.
Love the announcer saying "GEEZ LOUISE!" That was an incredible finish. As a former quarter mile runner, I never finished sprinting that event, always came across the line like I was running the last 50 meters in mud and into a 75mph headwind. The 400m is the worst race ever invented, and that chick just owned it and her competition.
Did anyone else see the 2a Girls Mile Relay race? Not quite the cheat code finish, but that girl came from 4th or 5th place to finish 1st. And the poor girl who was in 1st hit the pause button about 10 ft short.
