I think the blowouts have more to do with unsound defense than Mack Brown. When Chizik and Muschamp were coordinations no blowouts.
Two blowouts with Carl Reese and two with Manny.
BTW I think Mack should be replaced too, after today.
it's time to start looking at the constant. The head coach. This year, like years past, his team was unprepared, out-coached, out-executed, out-whatever.

But you can't turn back time either.
And this post serves what purpose? Mack was capable of a good 4 year run? Out of 13? VY and Colt, with no small help from Muschamp, handed MB the keys to a dynasty and he pissed it away through sloth and cronyism. I hope I wasn't unclear.
It's hard to be thankful to a man for rebuilding a brand when he turns around burns it nearly to the ground again. The good years were good, but we were bridesmaids far far more than brides, and now we're not even in the wedding party.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
It's time to start looking at the real constant........."De Loss" Dodds. Our football, basketball and baseball programs have all performed below expectations.
Powers is willing to accept the poor performance of the athletic program as long as Dodds brings in the big bucks to the program. It would take a major power play to unseat Dodds, Brown, Barnes and Garrido. Old AD's never die, they take years and years and big bucks to get them to fade away.
If nothing else, starting this week we MUST start tackling in practice. The hands only / shoulder bumps in practice have to stop. We are playing like we practice...soft and weak. If Mack is serious about staying then he has to take that step. If not, it's time to hang up the hat.
I think the main thought to take out of this is if Mack continues to coach Texas then there will be another blowout in the TX/OU game and it will not be in our favor. I figured it would be a shootout but as soon as Texas went three and out I knew it would be another lopsided win for OU.

Yeah, I was saying it. I have never not claimed that Brown owes VY and Colt McCoy everything. I was bitching about those recruiting classes from 2006-2009 and I was worried that some weaker times lay ahead. I had no idea. There were plenty of us though, we were all just considered negative nellies. I refuse to let history be revised after all of the shit I took during that period for questioning the offensive recruiting and wondering about Mack Brown's complacency. I've never felt the dude got the OU game. So, yeah, your premise is incorrect.
Any goodwill Mack had at Texas left with Cleve Bryant, from that point on it should have been about results. He hasn't delivered. He needs to "retire."
The Texas D had OU in two 3rd and longs on that first drive and couldn't get them off the field.
After that, there just weren't many 3rd and longs.

Two immediate thoughts reading your post beyond the you called it aspect:
1. You mention complacency.
I do not think it's fair that Mack gets a free pass on the recruiting efforts of his former assistants, especially on offense. So that means the poor evals by Davis, McWhorter, Kennedy, Rucker and Chambers are all on his hands as well as everybody else's.
The quarterback decision is a particular issue IMO. Coach Brown was absolutely a part of the decision process that chose not to recruit RGIII and Andrew Luck. He can't be absolved of those no matter how others want to recreate history.
I think history is repeating itself with the selection of Tyrone Swoopes this year. Same song, different verse.
I said that this spring and I continue to believe that today.
2. You mention not getting the OU game.
I think that's valid to some level.
Understanding that you can't get blown out in this game has to be part of the course prerequisite to be coach at Texas.
Did Mack weight in on Swoopes or was that Harsin's call?
Scuttlebutt is that Harsin made that call, but Mack had to sign off on it.
That's not the scuttlebutt here.

That's what I was told, but I'll defer to y'all on it.
Great. Is Mack trying to get his next VY?
Your on tonight
You could add LHN to that. Money but not good for fans or recruiting.
...I understand this is about Mack & the performance of his team, but I wish more people would take a look @ the complete dysfunction in the entire athletic department, as well as Powers' on-going problems.
Replacing Mack could be a good start to appease the big $$$ donors, & everybody could be happy for a little while...but at this point, a massive overhaul to the entire athletic department execs, as well as numerous coaching changes is really needed...
If the big $$$ donors are serious about Texas athletics, it starts with replacing Dodds & Plonski @ the end of the year...then replacing Mack...then possibly replacing Augie, if the baseball team continues its regression...then finding quality T&F coaches...etc, etc
There is a level of urgency and intensity missing from the entire athletic dept...too many upgrades to numerous facilities, contract extensions given, & large bonuses paid out without the corresponding success...@ this point, maybe we need Nick Saban as AD & take his attitude/personality across the entire athletic department
Most of the blowouts have been when Mike Stoops was there. I remember Haydon Fry saying Bob would really miss Mike. We did not even come close to scoring against their No. 1 D which the always gracious Bob pointed out several times in post game interviews.
This is all on Mack. His weather the surge and run an ineffective Bergeron into the middle in the first quarter to wear teams out in the fourth quarter mentality.
Try being the storm Mack instead of weathering it.
