Nor does he have the empire he would enjoy if he were to win the MNC at UT.
275-0 scoring margin
Dana X Bible's National Championship team
A TIMEOUT??? REALLY?
We don't want this topic to disappear from the first page
We can pretty much outbid any school in the nation. Will isn't coming back but I've heard many times that Saban wants to go down as the best coach ever and thinks that winning 3 Natty's at 3 different schools would prove it.
Forgot about Carroll would take him any day all day.
When looking for a coach, what is everyone looking for? I prefer a guy that has either defensive or offensive so when/if his side breaks down, he can take control...I don't like the whole "CEO" coaching style Mack gives us.
So would you rather a good offensive mind, a good defensive mind, or a "CEO" type?
Defensive minded no doubt. Defense is supposed to be angry and mean and that's what I want on my team. Think Baltimore Ravens. Offense can be manufactured, total hatred and disdain for your opponent is a culture!
Uh no. We don't hire a d3 coach to lead UT. UMHB's coach is in his twilight years of coaching.

Agreed. I also think a defensive guy will look for the nastiest O-Linemen he can find, which is what we need.
We dont need any more CEO type coaches. Saban, Carrol are pipe dreams. Paul Rhodes is a hell of a football coach, can be hired relatively cheap and you give him a blank check to get coordinators. Get an offensive coordinator that runs the spread and look to the nfl for defense coordinator. Rhodes knows the big 12 and does more with less talent than anyone in the league. Its not a sexy hire but a damn solid one that would pay dividends on the field where it matters.
I disagree that Carroll and Saban are pipe dreams. Difficult yes but Carroll's season could go to shit and Saban is... Well Saban. Money talks man and we have a pile of it.
Like Muschamp is doing at Florida?
Its not the money that I think makes it a pipe dream. Saban isnt leaving Alabama to rebuild Texas. He is setup to make a run at 3-4 national championships at Alabama. Track record says he'll leave after that. Moneys not the issue. I think your right on Carrol but it wont be at Texas. West coast guy who has a rookie qb and a team showing signs plus too much baggage for money people at Texas. That being said Id take either one just dont see it happening IMO.
If we are smoking "pipes" then let go after Jim Harbaugh................coaches who win a championship at one school or team seldom win another one at their next job. Saban is the exception (LSU-Bama) Harbaugh is very hungry and is younger than Carroll and Saban. Plus he won at a high level at an outstanding academic institution.
"Leadership is wisdom, courage and great carelessness of self"
Harbaugh doesn't want to coach in college. Not sure about Carrol but given that his first HC job was in the NFL I think he is where he wants to be.
Now the OC that Harbaugh took with him to SF from Stanford. Can't recall his name at the moment but he might be a worth looking at.
I'll smoke that shit!
0÷ chance Saban leaves Bama if there was a number lower than that I would use it
Most logical. I wonder if Leon Fuller would help Jerry Grey with our defense. I seem to remember that Jerry knew the h... how to tackle as did everyone who played for Fuller (incidently I do not know Fuller's age but he is up there).
Did you see his 4 play calls from the Notre Dame 5 yard line in Overtime? Or was that Harsin play calling from the West Virginia 12 yard line last week???
I would like a coach that is harder on the players. A coach that pushes the players more mentally and physically. I want a coach who demands physicality in the trenches and drills fundamentals into the players. I also want one who is more hands on with the team. I think mack has lost the players due in part to him not really being involved in the nitty gritty part of game planning and developing a team ready for Saturdays. We need a old school football coach damnit not a manager/politician.
My first phone calls would be
in that order
Obviously Harbaugh too in an ideal world but I wouldnt even make that phone call.
