Gee, it seems like only a year ago we were celebrating all the late flips we were getting to commit, such as Sanders, M. Johnson, D. Johnson, and Blueitt
Porter has mainly been out of state. I can understand that. I think we are talking instate. Did the staff just wake up?

And coaching changes, and new commits influencing older commits to look around. Just due diligence IMO.
I'll throw out a different analogy here. This reminds me of mine & a hs buddies prom experience. I had a gf that dumped me too late in the process to get a decent date. My buddy got strung along trying to land a 10 when he had some 7's that would have jumped all over an invite to the prom. We learned a few valuable lessons after that. I learned not to screw around on your gf 1 month before prom. My buddy learned every girl doesn't think he's the best looking guy on earth. We both learned from talking to buddies who went that getting a return on investment from the prom is a 50% shot.
Here is how this analogy applies to recruiting. We had a few recruits, Smythe & Hicks, dump us too late before signing day to get in on other recruits at the rb & te positions that we really wanted. We've also chased after wr recruits like Rhodes that don't think Texas is "the best looking football team" & there were some wr's that we could have gone after instead that may still have turned out to be good players. Finally, based on our 2009 class; we would be thrilled with a 50% return on investment (half the players panned out).
Welcome to most normal programs guys! Lol you guys have always been fortunate enough to fill up all of your scholarships by August and can just sit back with a smile, while we sit in sweat out recruits until NSD! Lol Texas will be fine but now you guys get a little taste of every other program has to deal with as far as dealing with recruiting til the final day.
Funny, that never happened with the slow weak kids that McWhorter recruited or the slow tall kids that Kennedy recruited. Those kids jumped all over their scholarship offers and we never had to worry about them decommitting for some reason?
It happens to every program, its inevitable. It's impressive that Texas has gone this long without hitting it. Texas is the only school that I've ever seen that fills their scholarships up pretty much every year by the time football season rolls around. Just because it didn't happen this year doesn't mean the end of the world and wouldn't for any school. You guys just aren't use to having to endure an entire recruiting process.
Sounds like you're making excuses for them. Hicks decommitted a month and a half ago, Smythe was rumored for awhile and Cambell, hell did anyone really think we had a shot? IMO this is just more evidence that Mack is out of his league in the current competitive environment. He just doesn't have a clue and his strategies are all back firing.
Has there ever been a groom walking down the isle who wasn't having second thoughts?

Given what NLeininger was talking about, your response is a non sequitur unless it is your contention that grooms tend to look at the approaching bride, then turn to the bridesmaids to get their digits.
I understand your point, but I have only seen grooms stand at the alter and watch their bride walk down the isle.
