I believe I am in the majority who thinks we desperately need to replace Mack this offseason for numerous reasons but are stuck with him for at least one more year. I also think that Mack wants to go out on a high note and resurrect his legacy. With that said, what would it take from Mack to fix his image with you?
Obviously an undefeated season where Mack walks off into the sunset with another national championship would prove the naysayers wrong. Is there anything else that he could do to get you back on his side? Beat OU? Win the Big XII? Make a BCS game? Pull in a #1 recruiting class?
My problem with the situation is that even if Mack had been looking at 2013 as "the" year for Texas to return to his mythical 10-win season, I feel like the Texas program will still have suffered damage to the image for us to get there. Even if Mack Brown walks away with a national championship next season, it seems like there is damage done perception wise both nationally and in-state that we are going to pay for going forward.
For him to give 15 million back to the University to help lower tuition. Then to have a team that actually beats OU.

Dana X Bible's National Championship team
"I don't hate you, I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence."
Three years of a Genghis Khan type run of annihilation, obliteration and devastation of college football
I want him to crush his enemies. Have them driven before him and hear the lamentations of their women.
Retirement. If he sticks around (as it appears he will), its conference championship next season or bust and I mean “bust” in a big way. He can kiss whatever legacy he think he's going to have goodbye. Despite the one NC, Mack will always be known as something of a VH1 "one hit wonder" in the coaching ranks. Despite all of the money, resources and talent at his disposal, he will have left behind a program that is reeling and in no better shape in terms of on the field success than it was before he arrived. That's certainly not going to earn you too many standing ovations among the masses that support Texas Football or better yet, the kind of media attention one would want leaving coaching. Will I feel bad for him? Not a chance, because Mack has created this mess and by staying on even when he knows he has not delivered what he promised, he will have “earned the right” to be reminded of his dismal record every day after he leaves this place. If nothing else, the salary he earned while doing it will be enough of a reminder just how bad he was and how idiotic and complacent this Administration was in backing him through it all.
Beat OU and win the conference for starters. At this point, I'm not interested in 10 win seasons where we still can't beat OU and we still can't win the games we have to (like TCU and Kansas State this year) to win the conference.
Maybe some actual coaching would help too... I'm really really sick of seeing sloppy fundamentals. We also have to quit this passive attitude on gamedays and start kicking some teeth in. There's is no way in hell you can try to be a power run team without an edge.
You have your historical figures crossed but I like where you are headed with this.
I think if he wins it all next year it will just make me even more pissed about this season.
In all honesty, Beat OU, Win 10 games, get us to a BCS Bowl game and win it...and in his acceptance speech of whatever trophy, announce that he is retiring...
Back to Back to Back to Back #1 recruiting classes. Its worked so well in the past.
Yeah. I just like the Conan quote. Doesn't really relate though
OU victory, Big 12 champs, BCS birth, and riding into the sunset.
If he beats OU, wins conference and a BCS game then retires he will be going out at a perfect time and with respect from me for making all the "sky is falling" people look silly. Wouldn't count on this happening though.
An announcement that John Mackovic has been rehired as HC at Texas
