News on the Juco QB recruiting front...
We've now mentioned junior college quarterbacks Tanner McEvoy and Nick Marshall as prospects Texas has looked at for the class of 2013.
There is still another player out there who is a possibility.
I'm sure some other sites will cold call until they figure out who it is, but we're going to keep a lid on it until we understand that Texas is moving forward with the prospect.
But to be 100-percent clear, there is no question that Texas is evaluating other QB prospects on both the JC and high school levels at this time.
We are told that Texas will take a running back in this class if they find someone they like and if one of the players they like reciprocate interest.
Essentially, there is a spot now available based on the departure from the class of Kyle Hicks to TCU.
We are told the staff is looking specifically in Texas, Louisiana, junior colleges and along the Atlantic Coast.
We are told some phone calls are being made this week to gauge initial interest and the Horns' staff will go from there.
Defensive end Za'Darius Smith of East Mississippi Community College is still expected to make an official visit to Texas this weekend.
However, safety Shaquille Fluker is not scheduled to visit according to a member of the staff at East Mississippi.
Smith has already visited Mississippi State and Texas A&M and both schools feel good about their chances.
Jucos expected on campus this weekend:
OT, Desmond Harrison - Contra Costa (Calif.)
DE Za'Darius Smith - East Mississippi (Miss.)
LB, De'Vondre Campbell - Hutchinson (Kans.)
Could there be a surprise or two this weekend?
Yes, we're told to expect at least one.

One big note BTW
Harrison was offered by Alabama this weekend.
strike him off the list then too.
- God Bless Texas
Surprise visitor good, Alabama offer bad.
With the coaching change, I wonder if Ark RB commit Kaleb Blanchard would listen to Major? Just a guess

no visit from fluker - bad
Bobby, Will our coaches continue to pursue Hicks, hoping to flip him back at the last second, or have they completely given up on him???
I think they think that one is over.
Surprise meaning "unexpected" visitor or surprise meaning commitment?
Why do you think that? He's originally from Texas and loves the Longhorns. Texas is sitting in the best position with him out of all the JUCO prospects.

Visitor, but if they're visiting a commitment could be there, too.
Alabama playing for its third national title in 3 years
Texas in disarray for the third straight year
Given this staff's seeming intention to keep recruting until the bell, what changes with Hicks unless they've decided the injuries give them an out, one they'll take?
His officials are all set and only has two left, including one to Texas this weekend. It will come down to UT-OU.
That's the first guy that came to mind for me. If LSU was taking a RB this year and not all-in on Fournette for next year, he was on top of their list. His offer list was limited because he missed his JR year with an injury but he showed he is pretty much back with a strong SR season.

Because negativity reigns supreme these days, at least with some people.
Heck no, Arky will have the type running attack Mack has savored for years.
