I am curious to see who OSU picks to be the QB once Lunt is healthy. Lunt is the better passer but Walsh is a dual threat who looked pretty good at passing the past two games. They are both freshman so I expect that whoever loses out will probably transfer next season. Some school will be getting a good QB.
At no time last night did I feel grateful we were facing their #2 quarterback. Walsh is very good.
It has to be Walsh, and this is the type of decision that could fracture a team if Gundy does it incorrectly.
Walsh makes a defense have to defend 11 on 11, Lunt does not.

I was impressed with him, but let's not forget that OSU ran for 270+ on us. We didn't exactly force OSU to put it all on his shoulders.
I think that whoever his OC will be next year, Monken or another, will have a lot to work with and he'll be deadly before it's all said and done.
I wonder if Wisconsin might be interested in his services at some point.
I got brains. I got big ol' brains. I got dinosaur brains.
and nearly 60 of those yards came from Walsh, not too mention that he was able to extend several pass plays with his feet allowing his WR(s) to work open for big gains.
Lunt is supposed to be a very accurate passer. Given their running game and OL play, I don't think they really need a running QB. They might be a tougher out with a great passer.
Those QB lead draws for huge gains later in the game by OSU were brutal and I'm not sure Lunt could have been as effective there.
This is all true. The point was that he wasn't consistently put in the third down situations we put Ash in, and we don't know how he would respond given that required level of execution. I think he'll be excellent in time and is darn good now.
JMO but given passing abilities even remotely similar, I will choose the mobile QB every time. As a previous poster said, a mobile QB makes a defense defend all 11 offensive players.
I was pretty underwhelmed by Walsh. Not a very good passer at this point.
Are you kidding? In his first start he went 18-27, for over 300 yards, 2 TDs and ran for 57 yards on 8 carries. No need for the sour grapes. The kid can play.
not sour grapes at all, just saying i see why gundy went with the other kid.

Why'd you take out the part about 67% completion percentage not being "all that great"?
from seeing both in two games, JW easily. They keep talking about Lundt's arm strength and accuracy, but I thought Walsh looked better than him in their previous game. Some coaches just have their favorites, but Walsh has always been a leader. If they don't want him, he will start and succeed at a good school.
They would have been undefeated and ranked coming into this game had Walsh played against Zona. I think quite a few OSU fans are telling themselves they would have won had Lunt played, and I think it's quite the opposite.
