I've been reading a lot of comments from Aggies on various sites describing the Longhorn football program as a "dumpster fire" and I haven't been able to do anything but laugh. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with 17 wins over the last two seasons, but aside from this past season, that's a pretty darn good 2-year stretch for the boys in College Station. We'll see how much longer this "dumpster fire" keeps burning, I have a feeling it won't be long.
Aggy has 18 wins in 2 years...Texas has 17 wins in 2 years, including over aggy...but Texas football is a dumpster fire?
Didn't you get the memo?
We're not allowed to say dumpster fire anymore.
stupid idiots! Delusional as always...
I think you're missing the point about why Longhorns, Aggies and others have been calling the whole athletic department a dumpster fire. Really has almost nothing to do with the specific number of wins and losses.

LOL! Then what is it based on? Professional opinions?
Agreed. Has more to do with mental retardation from all parties involved.
We've got issues that need to be addressed, but the level to which we're being written off is absurd. We need some new blood, and it's coming. What if this time next year we've got a new, big name coach, manziel decides to go pro and sumlin gets lured away to USC or the NFL? Will the national media and a&m still be running around pumping their chests about how they're the premier school in the state? Things change in a hurry.
Aggy should finish higher than 5th place in their own conference before they start accusing other teams of being a "dumpster fire"... especially, considering the fact that said team owned their ass on the football field and that's why the tucked tail and ran away.
I don't necessarily disagree with any of that.
But while most of us focus on football, I think the concern I read from people is that is an athletic department wide problem, and not just one program or coach. That was my main point. That and it isn't about wins and losses last season.
Texas athletic dept with multiple NC's in multiple sports over the last 10 years & on the verge of $175M annual revenue...aggy athletic dept making up championships to place on their stadium
Which sounds more like a dumpster fire?
I agree with the Aggies.
We have an athletic department that is a petri dish for scandal, an AD that thinks 9 wins is pretty cool, a head coach that appears to be nearing senility or at least complete wussification, a defensive coordinator that coordinated the worst defense in the history of Texas football with two first round picks out there, and an OC that will screw anything that holds still.
And OU runs it up in Dallas every year.
And for those of you that are saying the last two years would be good in College Station, you are making the Aggies point. If your program resembles Texas A&M too closely it is a dumpster fire.

My first line was kind of intended to encompass the whole athletic department, even though I didn't explicitly state that.
Dodds is on his way out. If we make a solid hire, which I've got no reason to believe that we won't, the culture will change and the dead weight will be cut.
For the record, I never called the program anything.
Last year we finished 3rd in our conference. When was the last time aggy finished better than 3rd in their DIVISION?
A&M is not our standard.
This makes no sense
I'd say the fact that there's more fornicating going on within the AD than at an Alabama family reunion has something to do with it. Combine that with the fact we continue to underperforme in every major sport and there ya go.
You have no clue how much "fornicating" is going on at other schools. That said, would you care if you did know? Who gives a flip. Those "issues" are between the people doing the fornicating and their spouses (if they have them)... if that's worse than the drug cartel practicing spring football in fort worth or the armed robberies going on in Bama... then I think we're alright.
"Underperform"... by who's standards? We have won a NC in two of the 3 major sports within the last 10 years and played for many more recently.
While I disagree with most aggies, Sin Miedo does bring up a good point. The Texas Athletic Department has to be at a record low in the last 15-20 years. Aside from Volleyball, softball, and golf, every other sport is underperforming and there is just no reason for that. When you are at a program like The University of Texas, you are expected to win and win big! Dodd has not delivered and he thinks that Mack is still the answer. He is in for a rude awakening this coming 2013. I just don't see Texas winning the Big 12 as some expect and that will be due because Mack decided to keep Diaz as the DC. I would not say that it is a dumpster fire, but it is not elite and is very far from being there.
Our only hope right now is for DD to call it quits anytime in this 2013 and for Luck or another competitive AD to come along and get rid of Mack. Clean house from top to bottom. Give Texas a fresh start. Relieve us from the torment that has been the last 3 years.
Whoever our next head coach is, I have zero doubt that it will be a blockbuster hire and should be able to bring Texas back. Texas will always be in a much better position for success than a&m because the name and tradition carries on a much higher weight. Like it was said before, Texas is the 800 lb gorilla in college football that nobody can ignore.
Again, not a "dumpster fire" (only takes an aggy to think like that), but certainly not in good shape...
One thing that really bothered me about Mack this past season occurred during the OU rally. While speaking to the crowd he said, "If OU is going to get us, then they better get us now because we are headed in the right direction and we are headed there fast." That is the mentality of this football program and no one can look at a reason for losing to OU every year without looking at Mack Brown. Yea, I'm sure Nick Saban will say, "well let them get us now, before it is too late for them".... Please Mack, just leave!!!!
I take it professional conduct and sexual harrassment are foreign concepts in the McDonald's work place? If you don't understand why its big deal then you're a bigger moron then I had anticipated............and that is saying something.
Why's everybody so beat up about Major plugging a chubber. Let the man get some booty!!
I may not always agree with Sin but usually he has a good take. While I am sure there are thousands of Aggy that are frothing at the mouth, he's not one of them. That being said, stop going to Aggy sites and realize we need to get our own house in order. It may not be a dumpster fire but it is currently a toilet that is in need of flushing.
Dumpster fires just scare you to death.
If it were just Major it wouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately, its not.
Agree with ya on this stuff...gonna get uglier before it gets better with this internal garbage...
That said, not sure either school, or OU, or LSU, or any other school in the region has much too brag about right now...each school with their own internal problems...but I wouldn't call any of it a dumpster fire, but just me
