I'm calling my shot now, He's going to be our next star qb after ash leaves.
Amen to that brutha!!
Yeah he looks very good.
He definitely still needs to redshirt, but what I've seen from him so far excites me very much cuz the type of offense were running now is tailor made to his skill set. Plus 6'4 250lbs is scary coming downhill at you, Just ask Josh Turner.
I thought he looked fantastic - especially for an early enrollee true frosh. He's obviously still got some grooming that needs to happen to his game, but he's in a good position with Ash being ahead of him. He looked calm in the pocket and athletic enough to make off schedule plays. He wasn't asked to make any tough throws, but what he did, he did well.
With 2 years behind Ash he should be ready to dominate.
CTJ should literally jump. He knows nothing. Nice little one man jihad against Swoopes.

If you want a runner, sure. He didnt throw the ball but once, but was effective breaking tackles and scrambling.
I said it last year and I will say it again after watching the spring game this year. Brewer is your QB. Of all the QBs on the field today, he makes quicker decisions, he reads the defense and he makes meaningful throws. What I mean by meaningful throws is that when he throws it with intensity. It looks as if he has been there done that. I would expect the upper classmen throws to look like Brewers. I dont know if they just dont have the arm or what. Now, I dont know how well Brewer runs, but if the texas passing game wants to click again, Brewer is your man. As a Sooner fan, I will take Ash and McCoy all day. Keeping Brewer on the bench is doing us a favor IMO.
There is nothing more dangerous in this world than a man with nothing to lose.
Kind of like Blake Bell, Huh?
Did you even watch the spring game?
I don't know. Brewer didn't look that great today. He's capable, but his hallmark is supposed to be accuracy. He was off today. I just don't think there is an accurate gun slinger type QB on campus right now. The staff seems to be trending towards dual threats so that looks like the ticket for the near future.
I am a big Swoopes fan. I think that he is going to be "Big-Time" at Texas.
Brewer looked awful. I think Swoopes is going to be ok. He'll be a better thrower of the football than Bell. He did complete both passes he attempted tonight after all.
Swoopes was a conundrum. He Looked slow on TV but broke tackles and made plays on first team players (see attempted sack not blown dead by hicks and Jenkins). He needs to redshirt but he showed he can hang. Famous DKR quote about that
“@mikefinger: Mack said "right now Tyrone (Swoopes) is ahead of the other two" young QBs. Said he wouldn't hesitate to burn redshirt.”
I want to see a formation with both Swoopes and Overstreet.
The coaches have to find a way to use Overstreet, his athleticism is off the charts.
Sure I did. He missed a couple early including one that I felt that 27 should have got, but he settled down pretty good after that. Heck, even on his last throw into the endzone, he avoided the rush and threw a strike to 85 I think, but he didnt catch it. It was right on the money. He just looks like a better QB to me, but if you want running, maybe he isnt it. If you want a passer, he is IMO the best texas has. Who do you think was the best passer tonight? I dont think its close, but what say you and the others.
Not great? Sure, i can agree with that, but if that guy is throwing to Davis, Shipley and the other WR that broke the tackles and scored, I think he would do better than Ash and McCoy. He just looks like a better QB than what you guys are running out there. Im happy he is on the bench.
No, nothing like Bell. Bell isnt a starting QB. He runs well to be 260+ though.
Swoopes looks like a legit 6'4" too
So Blake Bell is a complete qb? Lol
I thought all the young qb's looked good. I think they could all win us some games. I do think Brewer is underrated. He didn't have any time to set up and throw tonight so you can't judge much from tonight's performance. But the future looks bright, especially with Heard coming in next year.
I like Brewer a lot and hope he gets a shot. The only thing McCoy had over the other three is experience and his experience wasn't impressive.
I dont know yet. We will see. NFL arm, mobile and strong, but we will see if he is able to run the entire offense or not.
NM, somebody else already made the same observation about Blake Bell.

Disciplina praesidium civitatis
I think its funny when people bash Bell like he can't throw. Guy was a top 5 QB nationally coming out of HS. Kid might have the strongest arm in the Big 12 right now. I'm not saying he's gonna be a star because I don't know but OU doesn't recruit QBs that can't throw and Stoops track record backs that.
